BMW iX3 Premieres At IAA Mobility 2025 With Advanced EV Tech

The BMW iX3 takes the spotlight at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, marking its world premiere as the first Neue Klasse model and signalling a major step in the brand’s electric roadmap. Across the city’s Open Space and the Summit halls, BMW turns the event into a live laboratory, positioning the iX3 centre stage while showcasing innovations that will flow into future models across the range.

Core to the iX3’s appeal is a blend of sixth-generation eDrive hardware and a rethought human–machine interface. Panoramic iDrive stretches a display surface across the lower windscreen for clear, road-focused information, complemented by a new multifunction steering wheel with discreet controls and a crisp Central Display for deeper menus. Underneath, a high-performance computing stack—developed in-house—coordinates chassis systems and power delivery to keep responses smooth, accurate and predictable.

BMW uses the show to introduce bidirectional charging on the iX3 for the first time, illustrating how the high-voltage battery can supply a home (V2H) or support the wider grid (V2G). In practical terms, the car becomes part of an energy ecosystem: storing off-peak power, feeding domestic loads during demand spikes and helping stabilise networks. Experts on site walk visitors through public charging options, home wallbox setups and smart charging routines that prioritise range readiness without wasting energy.

Beyond the iX3, the Open Space and Summit host a full brand showcase. MINI’s latest concepts share floor space with BMW M and a sweep of current battery-electric models, while BMW Motorrad adds urban EV scooters for agile city commutes. BMW Welt unveils a new high-power charging hub designed by Designworks, and the BMW Museum launches an interactive DigiTour that pairs heritage highlights with rare archive material. A classic BMW 1500 nods to the 1961 Neue Klasse moment, drawing a direct line to today’s electric chapter.

Sustainability runs through the entire programme. Event structures prioritise re-use, materials are sourced for extended life, and installations are designed to be redeployed after the show. Taken together, the message is clear: the BMW iX3 delivers the next phase of electric mobility with tangible gains in interface design, charging capability and dynamic control, while the wider BMW Group ecosystem backs it with infrastructure, digital experiences and a long-term commitment to circularity.
