EVO Tests BMW M4, Porsche, Audi, and Toyota

Capable of giving even a Ferrari 458 Italia a run for its money, the new generation of the BMW M4 is a formidable machine. Its 3.0-liter twin-turbo I6 engine produces 503 horsepower and 473 lb-ft of torque. With its xDrive all-wheel drive system, it’s capable of delivering a driving experience unlike any other M3 before it. While some purists may be skeptical, the M4’s aggressive and powerful performance is undeniable.

While the 911 Turbo was in a class of its own, the M4 held its own in terms of performance, coming close to the 911 Turbo in real-world speed. However, the 911 Turbo still had the edge in driving dynamics, grip, body control, and refinement.

The Audi RS3 offered a lot of fun for a reasonable price, with four doors and five seats, but couldn’t compete with the value offered by the GR Yaris, which is arguably the most fun-per-dollar car on the market.

Ultimately, it’s hard to say which of these cars is the best, but it’s clear that all-wheel drive made the BMW M4 a better, more accessible and enjoyable car, even if it’s not the purist’s choice of yesteryear.
