Hahaha... bro, you missed David Seaman.

I'll always like Jennings.
Seaman was good but somehow, there is a part of me that will always remember Seaman for the Cup Winners Cup blunder goal by Nayim many years ago.

beautiful first time effort from Carroll.

sandwiched between a nice Kuyt strike in the middle.

Good day at the office. ;)

continue the good day in office to this weekend........:D

If you have to make a choice;

debt free with no trophies or shit load of debt with trophies every year? :silenced::verysad:

I'll choose debt free with no trophies. Arsenal has performed very well whilst spending within its means. Clubs with a lot of debt run the risk of collapsing when the $$ runs out.

Look at the way we have performed over the years. Yes, we have not won anything for a few years but each year we are up there giving it a good fight and always among the top few teams. To me that is very commendable. It is not as if we are always fighting relegation every year. We are always fighting for the top prizes. That is why teams like Everton are more commendable to me that those on financial steriods.

Arsene said recently that second is no disaster. There are teams that have not achieved anything for twenty years and when suddenly this year they are fighting among the top team, they get a lot of praise. I think he was probably referring to Spurs.

We have to give Arsene credit and have faith. Arsene Knows!!

Congrats Dash! good game for pool!! Carroll finally starting to pay off his price. Torres still hasn't scored for Chelsea. I think Pool probably made the right decision to sell and get good money.

Arsenal playing Liverpool this Sunday. The Gunners' shaky central defence may have a tough time marking the lanky Carroll . :(

The Livepool fans will have a dilemma this weekend. Since we are the closest challengers, if they beat Arsenal, they might as well hand the record to ManU for the 19th title. Maybe they'll do a kelong like against Chelsea last year :shhhh:

It will be ironic and interesting to see the ManU fans cheering for Liverpool this weekend.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Liverpool will have no dilemma. Mathematically, they are still in the race for top 4. No reason not to go for it after the long climb.

Arsenal should fear this fixture, after seeing how Pool regained its form against Man U and Man City. And what comes next? Spurs. Then Bolton (those long balls will trouble Arsenal's defence) and Man U.

Yup second is no disaster, but the Arsenal managers job and expectation is to bring in trophies..and sadly we have not achieved that for the past 6 years. I think Arsenal would never win anything unless Arsene Wenger goes. I love Arsene Wenger for his bargain buys and keen eye for talent, but I'm tired of hearing the same old rhetoric that we play with the best style but don't achieve results because of blah blah blah *insert reason* here. How many times have we seen opponents park a bus in front of goal and then score against the Arsenal from a quick long ball into the box? Too many times....

We need to spend some serious money on established defenders and goalkeepers to address Arsenal's weak underbelly. Remember Martin Keown, Tony Adams and even Sol Campbell at his prime. Arsene Wenger is too stubborn to spend that amount...and he never will. That's why he has to go.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Without Wenger, there would no Anelka, no Viera, no Henry and no Cesc... so we might not be what we are today without him. I like him but he needs to start buying established players... how many times have we lost a game because we were poor defensively? If a layman like me could see it, how come he just couldnt accept it?

Agreed...maybe he should be a talent scout instead of manager. Actually Henry was quite an established player and created a lot of buzz as a young striker with his performances for France in WC 98. Was damn happy when he signed for Arsenal.

Koscielny and Squillaci have been disappointing signings this season. Wish we could get Michael Dawson from spurs.

It's highly unlikely that either party would agree to Dawson coming over to Arsenal. I think Gary Cahill is more likely to join than Dawson.

Man U vs Chelsea tonight - another mouth watering match.

My prediction... 2-nil to Man U.

Just one more reason I would like him to come over and do a Sol Campbell...

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

I agree that Wenger should spend some money to get one or two experienced players in but I'd stop short of wanting him out. There is no perfect manager.

I would say conclusively, without thinking twice, that Wenger is the most successful Arsenal manager that I have seen. Some may say Chapman from the old era but I think Arsene has done better. Arsene has been a victim of his own success. He came in virtually unknown and started winning trophies left right centre. Doubles, Invincible season etc.

Now there is a tropy drought for a few years and because expectations levels are much higher, fans are unhappy. I am unhappy too but I always remind myself that it was he who built up the glory and expectations in the first place. So, for me, I'll cut him some slack. Yes, five or six years worth. Of course at some point of time, i'll lose my patience but I guess it will be around the ten year drought mark. I guess different fans will have different tolerance levels. Without Arsene and what he has built, Arsenal would be wallowing in mid-table mediocrity.

Ok differing opinions aside, I wonder how the Kronke takeover will pan out and whether it will affect the players. Usually in takeovers, some players may feel unsettled. However in Arsenal's case, I think there is a sense of continuity here since Stan has been on the Board for a few years. Also the takeover will not pile debt onto the club which is what I like. Unlike the case of ManU. They might just go the way of Leeds.

Oh Yes ! Crossing my fingers for a Chelsea 1-0 win in the Champs league. Extra time and penalties. At that point, I dunno who to cheer for .... :biggun:

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Highbury you very lor sor!
U just wanna to hope that the match will tired my
Boys right! Hehehee we get thru! We will face off barca again!

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Yup agree with highbury that Arsene is a victim of his own success. We've always been in the top four after he came in and agree that he is Arsenal's most successful manager. I would love Arsene Wenger to stay and bring the club forward by bringing some experienced players and spending money this summer...but that's highly unlikely given that he's very tight about money. I hope to be proven wrong though...

Like another bro said here, hope Man U progress past Chelsea and get to the finals against Barca. Would love to see how they fare against them. Also hope Chelsea will be motivated to get their revenge against Man U in the BPL when they meet at Old Trafford! Having said that I think Arsenal don't stand a realistic chance in getting the BPL crown....lost it in the 3 consecutive draws
