On some rides, yes. Not all. I also reverted to stock after using K&N for one ride. No good. But different car different. Current ride ok.

Lost of power?

Re: KNN vs Hurricane vs Stock Air Filter

saw KNN website and was not convived. they are like saying have 96-99% efficiency but refuse to say at how many microns. so check on the manufacturer of the stock filters and found it was 10 microns. they said it followed ISO standards on filtration so I looked at the ISO standard and KNN around 20 microns.

Anyway I had a gruppe M last time ...... holes lagi big. can seriously see through with naked eyes. and gruppe m uses KNN filters.

Low end torque suffered but high revs good.... I say no good cos car is 98% driven in city driving... But thats me....

But i think you just need validation to change cos you are 80% convinced to change... So in this instance.... Pls change.... If no good, come here post in forum and bitch about it.

I am thinking of changing. I don't jump into conclusion without making serious thinking. I deal with a lot of filter in my job so to an extend I understand what you are saying.

In my last ride, I was on Js Racing filter and it is a paper filter. I did not like hurricane because it is not filtrating small particles. One of my mate did a small test by putting a filter paper behind the mesh and you can see the paper becomes dark with with small particles.

Re: KNN vs Hurricane vs Stock Air Filter

Yup.....engine is going to take a beating once enough is accumulated......but then of course you could reduce the OCI and keep a good supply of fresh oil to keep the engine clean.

Check this out... and you will prefer stock thereafter....

Air Filter Filtration Test - Bob is the Oil Guy

A few years down the road, it is more costly to replace piston liner and ring....
If you notice what your windscreen ends up after a NSHW run, think what has gone into your engine with a more porous air filter...

Cool article. Another 'neutral' experiment article which supported my past decision to stay with OEM air filter on my bimmer.

Re: KNN vs Hurricane vs Stock Air Filter

If stock compare with GruppeM air intake, jus the filter itself, so still bac to sq one? Izit using knn filter too?

Re: KNN vs Hurricane vs Stock Air Filter

To me ... Knn hurricane n bmc cda n 3 oem inch pipe ...
Other than money , time on mods impt is butt feeling n happiness ie the car reacts n sound.

Whether engine kaput or not I doubt too much consideration because average spore change cars every number of years...

There no hard n fix rules what I'd best to each ride but more like what mods u hv on to suit what sort of intake etc ...

Re: KNN vs Hurricane vs Stock Air Filter

gruppem use knn ......

I do agree a regular oil change is needed. I also think once a while high rev the beast will prolong its lifespan as it purge out some waste through the exhaust system.
