KNN vs Hurricane vs Stock Air Filter

I have noticed that not many owners talk about air filter in this car model. Is it because it it does not really help to increase performance of the car? I understand E90 320i has an air box but the filter is an open pod kind. Has anyone use KNN or Hurricane and can you give feedback on these 2 air filters? Is there any other brands in the market?

Golden Words! still haven't sleep?

Re: KNN vs Hurricane vs Stock Air Filter

Encounted KNN filter melted (the ring rubber). No experience in Hurricane. Yes, stock is best.

Re: KNN vs Hurricane vs Stock Air Filter

Aftermarket air filters not expensive, cost to fix busted engine more expensive. Not worth.

Re: KNN vs Hurricane vs Stock Air Filter

I don't mean to parrot ac323 since he has posted first, IMHO air filter for bimmers, Stock is Best.

Btw, KNN sound so wrong...

Re: KNN vs Hurricane vs Stock Air Filter

Yes, stock is good for 320 for Singapore road's jam condition.

But for higher speed cruising on NSH I feel K&N is better.

You oso using knn?? :D

Re: KNN vs Hurricane vs Stock Air Filter

For e90 320, u will hardly see any gains. Unless for 335 or the new turbocharged 2l engines, dun expect anything. It is more abt form factor then anything else. Not worth it.

Re: KNN vs Hurricane vs Stock Air Filter

I go with specs. Here's what I can remember - assuming 98.x % efficiency. The smaller the number the smaller the dust particle it can filter. That being said.... how the manufacturer design the weaves or shape to increase air volume passing through is another topic.

Stock - 10 microns
KNN - 20 microns
Bmc - 7 microns

Hearsay is that if you use a filter at 98.x % efficiency that filters 40 micron dust versus 10 micron - your engine will tahan 2.7 times longer in lifespan.

agree! however I doubt BMW produces engine that can't burn the dust particles away. ;)

A better airflow will definitely assist in having better engine efficiency. Cold air also helps according to theory.
