Re: F10 Questions

The 520 drives better.
523 quite sluggish.

Think I can live with e engine sounding like a diesel taxi so long as I dun hear it inside e car. The car is on the move anyway.

It feels sluggish because throttle was not trained to be responsive. If u drive it like u steal it for a wk, guarantee + chop that it will drive like a wild mustang.

My SE also said so. The gearbox or "dunno what" is ADAPTIVE something something....

He always claims my drive-to-vent streak is the reason why all my cars are always faster than the exact same makes in the family, and currently still seems that way through the 3 series and the 520 528s.

But I think he said not just a week would cause the adaptive change but longer than that. Thought it was like 2-3 months or something.

Holler if anyone need to know then I'll WhatsApp him for the answer. He is very nice one.

Re: F10 Questions

Test drove the F10 520 last week. Decided to keep my E60 523. Listen to the F10 tiak tiak engine sound cannot wet.

My E60 is exactly 7yo and still put a silly smile on my face hearing the sweet engine note. IL6, really sibei niceeeee.

Same here when I was invited to test drive the F10 523 ....somehow it lacks the feel of my existing 2007 E60, and yes, the beautiful sound from beneath the hood when I start the engine everytime!

Quite agree with your observation. Found it sluggish in city driving here but diff animal when I brought it for run in the Highlands or all the way to Phuket! Love it!

Pluss the F10 steering feel not as good as E60.

Agree, agree, agree.

To change from E to F10 will have some tears, curses and swear words. It is a different pot. Feels different and sounds different from the start of ignition to many other things.

I didn't get the F10 out of fascination. It was just the better choice of the entire lot.

It is a good car but it sounds worse than a taxi, the drive feel is not as direct, and I find it too quiet.

There are many good things about it though. The drive may not feel as rugged or direct, but it does respond better in actual fact and speeds up better. It is in fact a better version and better car.

The bros here know the pluses of the car better to elaborate. If they feel like, that is.

If sound and vibration is that impt to you, then you enter the deal forewarned.

Re: F10 Questions

Tip,

For my E90 slightly modded, I liked driving without music as it was good to my ears.

For the F10, I seldom ever drive without music. Can't do it. Will start hallucinating about the throaty purr of the other e cars.

No need long drive lah. On this island, i got the same feeling when i am 1st in traffic light q. After 500m, sian liao. Another traffic light.

Re: F10 Questions

Thanks all. Just asking cos its an additional options compared to those units of abt same yr, month but doesnt comes in big difference in price.

I chose 523 yes, cos of its 6 potters. Quite tempted to get the 528 Turbo but drop the idea, and its newer setup / technology unsure of its stability and reliability. I prefer a NA car. Looking for 528 3.0L too but only PI models have it.

Whatever the model, by just driving these performance cars on city roads alone is rather wasted; not freeing it to its full potential. Moreover, I feel that it will get cranky after a while becos of pent up power. That's why I advocate regular rd runs up north to enjoy the car for what it is meant for and to clear carbon...and it does make for a smoother drive. IMO :wavey:
