Hi guys, just wana check with gurus here regarding F10...

Realised the F10 523 some comes with paddle shifts, some doesnt and some comes with the Dynamic Drive Control, some doesnt.

Can a non paddled and dynamic ride be equipped to one which does have?

Re: F10 Questions

I think around mid-2011 when COE shot up from 50K to 70K, PML brought in 523i (including the base non-highline model) with paddleshift and dynamic drive control (DDC). Those with paddleshift will also have sports steering wheel.

Before that, even highline don't have paddle shift. It was an optional item.

Re: F10 Questions

Hi,
Sorry to hijack the tread...
Wondering what makes you choose 523 over 520??
I am looking at the pre owned ones..
520 newer technology, 523 being 2.5...
Which is better??
Really headache...
Hope to have some advise..
Thks..

the dynamic drive suspension afaik people say can't be retrofit, but some workshop say can ... easily set you back 10K because there is a computer module and reprogramming involved, also need to get the buttons fitted on your transmission shift.

with that kind of money most people just go and get new shocks, new springs or coilover, or you can go and spend $4K to buy all the new parts and get the m-sport suspension (abit boh hua IMHO).

you can read my review on the m-sport suspensions here:

523i = 2.5l, 6 cylinders, no turbo
520i = 2.0l, 4 cylinders, got turbo

520i confirm faster taking off from standstill cos of turbo, the power is available at very low RPMs.

523i is the last of the legendary BMW smooth as butter inline 6 engine and reliability is good. if you don't buy 523i, this engine no more liao. in future all engines will be turbocharged.

they say 520i fuel consumption better, but you be the judge. my 523i average FC is 8.5+km/l given my 50/50 traffic pattern and the usual jams, etc. Sometimes can hit 9km/l. I'm on 19" stock BMW rims with runflat tyres -- 275/35/19 at the rear. Damn sibey heavy rims.

you buy 520i (PML one, not the PI one) the benefit is that you get all the latest iDrive gadgets. the older 523i basic model is kosong one, the iDrive SMLJ also don't have.

Re: F10 Questions

Thks for the feedback..
What about comparing pre owned 520 and 523 highline,
Both also from PML..
I thinks the gadgets wise are quite the same..
It's the engine wise that is different..
Really headache, both cars' depreciation also on par...

Re: F10 Questions

So given a choice you will choose 523 over the 520, am I right??
Why 6 cyc over Turbo?
Thks..
