Went down to Motoaire yesterday for a 'Kaput' aircon....after checking, main cause is a leaking coil (5 Mins Diagnostic). Quite impressed with their speed & knowledge. Collected car after lunch today and enjoying the COOL aircon in a hot and humid Singapore.:cloud9:

Like to thanks the people in this forum for your selfless contribution and Ah Chuan from Motoaire....Also. to C3PO for your help for giving me the info with the breakdown of repairing...even though I decided to get my car fixed at Motoaire...'Kam Xia' Bro C3PO....May 'Ti Gong' bless u n your family...:)

:D ya hor...come to think of it.
Btw, really am impressed by the service of Ah Chuan from Motoaire. Am not trying to advertise for them (please don't get me wrong), just saying that because the interior lining at the front windscreen(the pillar with airbag) came loose, he actually fix it for me. He also rectified my armrest issue(Cannot lift fully) for me. Some workshops just do their required part but Ah Chuan did more than that...Kudos to Motoaire...  ...

Re: Aircon Issue Resolved

Can i just say, you are DAMN lucky to have gone to Motoaire from the start. I have a buddy who had so many problems with his e46. Sent in multiple times to a popular workshop that many here frequent. Change coil, still got problem. bring back, change compressor?/condenser? still got problem. Send in again, STILL got problem. The workshop seems to have no clue how to solve.

He got so pissed he almost wanted to sell the car. Then I found a thread by chickenbackside about Motoaire, passed the contact on. Now, the car is fixed PERFECT. within one day, everything settled. Coil was culprit. Previous workshop kept saying the replacement coil was tested without problem. i think they prob don't have the expertise for this particular area.

And Ah Chuan and guys are very reasonable with price. Now my buddy spent over 2K on the bloody problem before it was solved. and most of the cash went to the initial workshop. Told him he should have gone Motoaire in the first place. Would have saved him time and money. Other workshops may be good for changing oil, brake pads and some go faster mods. But air con specialist is definitely Motoaire.

Think of going to JB to fix the air-con problem (thanks to C3P0 for his contact). However, now I think its better to do it in Singapore. Crime rate is so high there, and we are driving the 'rich man car', kekeke

Btw, did called up the JB workshop...was told that car need to be left there overnight :ultrasho: ....better be safe than sorry after hearing many 'wonderful' stories. Pricing wise quite similar but less troublesome...Malaysia 'Boleh' but Singapura 'also Boleh'...:chinese:

It's always better to go to a specialised air-con repair workshop for air-con probs

very true. neither he nor i knew about Motoraire earlier. he just went back to the workshop that usually services his car. No idea they would be so clueless about that part of the car. suspect they outsource air con repairs.

Hear good reviews abt this shop as well & good that you've resolved your prob.

My neighbor's E60 abt 41/2 yrs old with mileage abt 86k, AC died on him. He got a quote at abt what you've paid for but opted for a re-con unit which costs a 1/4 less which I told him not to take a chance.

Less than 3 mths the AC went kaput & LL end up spending 1.7k+ in total

Once car touches the 5th yr mark, wear & tear will surface 1 after another, aircon, gearbox etc..Darn costly.

Re: Aircon Issue Resolved

hi, im new here, just wan to chk wif u guys, my e60 does not blow cold air when i just start the car. cold air only kicks in after ard 5 min drive. sometimes when i stop the car, the air also becomes not so cold..normally at night is colder...day time nt very cold.....is there anything wrong with the aircon? hope its not the compressor....:(

Re: Aircon Issue Resolved

my fren tells me its cheaper to get parts from bmw malaysia(JB)...isit reliable? iniatially i thought of getting all the wear n tear parts from eng soon and getting a installer to change all for me..but i aso dunno wad parts to get..anyone done this b4? tks

Re: Aircon Issue Resolved

sad to say it is a compressor. my 1.5 yr old E60 had the same symptom as yours despite having clocked only 18k km. had the compressor changed FOC. super cold now from the start.

i did my change at Kg Arang and need to leave car for 1-2 days.
