Z4 scraping the under carriage over humps

Re: Z4 scraping the under carriage over humps

I think it is easy to identify as the car dealer told me that the previous owner is particular about this color.

Well, I love this color too. Looking at swapping the lic plate though. Waiting for the right combo.

Previous owner may be in this forum too, if you are, Hi!

cheers,

Re: Z4 scraping the under carriage over humps

isnt this the z4 that could give many 5-sec cars a good run..? if so, did you buy with the mods "intact" or has it been demodded somewhat?? hmm.........

Re: Z4 scraping the under carriage over humps

That was quite a monster Z4.

Nice colour. Interlagos Blue. M3 CS, Z4M and E60 M5 unique colour. Only one in Singapore.

Re: Z4 scraping the under carriage over humps

Just went to Juzz for Cars to check out. Found that one of the exhaust modded is too low, so kena scratched.

Will go for "operation" tml morn to adjust the placement back to normal. It should be ok after that. Hurray!

Re: Z4 scraping the under carriage over humps

There u go...........something hanging underneath. Seriously not that easy to scrape Z4 despite its low factory set up...Main reason is because its wheelbase is relatively short...

There you go. Luckily you did not heed the lose-weight advice.

Reminds me of a joke where a man went to consult a surgeon after numerous migraine. The doctor thinks it could be due to some testicular issues, so he advised him to remove one. After the operation, the migraine came back. On a visit to his tailor, the man realised that it was the wrong cutting that was causing the migraine...... KNN. Linking symptoms to the wrong cause.

Yup, heng ah! can eat continue to enjoy food. A 2nd opinion is always needed.

Re: Z4 scraping the under carriage over humps

Since the cats are giving you problem, might as well 'kill' them for good.

Re: Z4 scraping the under carriage over humps

What do the cats do? Modded by ex owner.

Re: Z4 scraping the under carriage over humps

The cats clean your exhaust by converting the harmful stuff into water and carbon dioxide. The Z4 is equiped with 2 sets of cats. One set is in the exhaust manifold and the other is halfway down the exhaust system. In the US, their Z4 operate on only one set of cat in the exhaust manifold and the other set is replaced with a resonator only to reduce noise.
Taking out one set of cat reduces back pressure on the engine and frees up some power. Of course the car will also be slightly noisier. The Z4 survives very well on one set of cat.

Re: Z4 scraping the under carriage over humps

.... and note also removing Cat is HIGHLY illegal ...

Re: Z4 scraping the under carriage over humps

Tanzy,

so are there two sets of O2 sensors for both groups of cats or only the cats in the exhaust manifold have pre/post O2 sensors?

Re: Z4 scraping the under carriage over humps

On the Z4 with M54 engines, I am sure there is only one set of sensors on the exhaust manifold. There are no sensors or any wires for that matter, that is attached to the exhaust system after the manifolds.

Re: Z4 scraping the under carriage over humps

Yes, nicholastan91, that is the one. they did not update the site.

Operation done, can cross humps faster and with confidence. Thanks to Juzz for Cars. However, at my office, it will still scrap lightly on entering and exiting the carpark.

looks like may have to live with it or raise the car a little more....

Tanzy,

i've been toying with the idea of fitting the mid pipes you gave me, did you lose any low end torque with those on?

also, i can't recall the reason why you went with smaller diameter pipes than stock... was this purely for the rasp or to compensate for loss in back pressure?
