Before you make any offers, why not take a punt with something from the auction section of sgcarmart? With some luck you can get more car for less money. Some of them are reasonably new too.

Nobody considered Mazda 3? Mine runs problem free for 3 and half years now. So far servicing experience at Mazda is pretty good too....

I vote for Toyota Vios, simple mechanics, reliable, good pickup, easy to find parts, spacious interior, good FC, easy to sell, friendly forum community.

was previously driving a honda fit. good and reliable. FC is good too, although the car itself requires some mod for more horsepower and torque. hatchback cars are good. basically, can convert honda fit into a mini van.

yes.agree with ya.very easy to get mods too as there are so many fit jazz drivers around.and their fit jazz forum community is quite big and active! was previously from there!

Here's a thought -- try renting any of the above cars, targeting ~$1000 per month -- achievable given you will be a long term rental e.g. 24 mths or 36 mths ,,,

While it is slightly higher vs. your $800 per month target, the car cost will be fully covered inc. insurance, maintainance, and depreciation. So no need to worry about selling / trading in later lol ! And you get to pay the rent in your credit card -- think of all the points you can get !

Anything happen, the rental company gives you another ride while they fix (and they come to where you are broken down) --- try doing that in your own small car ...

Quite effective -- did that for my wife while waiting over the 6+ months for her new ride to come in (typical wait time for customized indent ....)
