err... you heard whistling sound when accelerating in someone else's car?
can mean 2 things - either there's a leak in the exhaust system. not a good thing, happened to me before...
or the car is supercharged or turbocharged. whistling sound is the sound of the charger spooling up. very good thing, has not happened to me, yet...

Whistling sound... hmmm
Are you looking for the *whistle* that comes from Turbocharged cars?
If so, that's usually from the Blow Off Valve. The *whistle* is from excessive pressurised air being expunged. Usually to protect the turbine.
Stock BOVs usually don't have such a sound. HKS SSQVs give you the sharpest whistle.
So... if you want the whistle.
Lup a turbo. Replace the stock dump valve w/ a HKS SSQV.

Half correct there.
Whilst most/all BOVs have the same purpose. (dumping excess pressurised air)
The Sound they emit depends on the brand/design
Some BOVs go...
- "Psssssshhht!" (like a fluttery fart)
Other BOVs go....
- "Zzzzzuuui!" (like a whistle)
It happens not during the gear changes. nor during acceleration..
But whenever the turbo has started spooling
And the foot is let off the accelerator.

I don't have BOVs but last night when I was gunning my Kokoro down a little, there was some whistling... Very soft, very light...

I know why already. I only difference with my car was the air filter... It's prob the "sucking in" sound... Or so someone told me...

Yes. that's most likely.
With an aftermarket air filter, there will be a small "vacuum-like" sound from the front of your car. It becomes much more pronounced if you use an open pod.
It's a little more subtle, compared to the BOV whistle.
And that happens during acceleration. As the Air Intake gulps in air.
