Geylang is the official red-light area that is endorsed/controlled by Gov. It is also an attraction for tourist that is promoted by STPB. Due to its location and proximity to town and the recent property boom, many developer are cashing in the area and its seems that investor are taking the bite and bank are also relaxing/extending the housing loan to geylang properties that is bigger than certain no...Lor 24???? In the past many bank do not loan to Geylang properties or at a very low quantum like 50%...

bank still not lending, only 1 out of many banks lent to those recent geylang developers. No collateral value how to lend?

Recently my friend bought a unit at Lor 28 and he got the loan. 5 years ago I thought of getting a full condo at Lor 3X near the Tanjong Katong vicinity bcos the rental yield is good and forsee the appreciation value in the future but before I complete my sentence, the bank say we dont do Geylang!

If the gov move the redlight to some other area maybe to the land that they swap with the railway land (con the Malaysia's gov) then Geylang is worth investing...

If it was me, I would look for a location that can reach the full XXX IR status of Geylang. No point setting up shops where it is already overcrowded.

Maybe you can be more specific in the types of business you might want to venture in? Hotels? KTVs? Massage parlours? Gambling dens? Chicken coops? Or just looking for rental yield? Our feedback can be more constructive then.
