Looking to change tyres soon. Sound and safety priority over speed. What are the popular brands and shd I consider flat run tyres? Personally I tot no need cuz even if flat I would have called a tow truck.

Any other shops like a1 that offers instalment schemes and trade in value for ur existing tyres?

Wat are good tyres for our 3 series bimmers

Cheaper budget, try continental csc3, or michelin ps3

More budget try csc5 and most ex just buy michelin pilot super sports

All are summer performance tires, excellent in dry and esp michelin in the wet.

Michelin seems a notch quieter

Re: Wat are good tyres for our 3 series bimmers

michelin pss
michelin ps2
continental csc5p
goodyear f1 a2

listed in pricing and performance order

Re: Wat are good tyres for our 3 series bimmers

Michelin Primacy HP.

Re: Wat are good tyres for our 3 series bimmers

TS asking for quieter tyre and almost everyone recommend pss...

Isn't something more comfort based like primacy hp, primacy 3, or cinturato p7 more suitable?

Gotta b prepared that some compromise has to be made at the expense of having quieter tires; namely grip. Lotsa tech details, but dun think its relevant here. :)
Since you're asking for GOOD tires, I assume price is not an issue. that said, I'd also reco pss, as it's not really noisy, despite its performance.
just my 2cents.

Re: Wat are good tyres for our 3 series bimmers

The quietest I tried is the gr90 ..... Really comfortable.

But was doing spins quite often .... Especially in the wet.

Re: Wat are good tyres for our 3 series bimmers

PSS... Not noisy, quite comfortable. Grips very well during wet weathers and improves braking distance.

It meets your requirements.

Re: Wat are good tyres for our 3 series bimmers

I've yet to try PSS but those "safe in the rain" tyres I've tried before are all not "quiet". So maybe TS has to redefine his priority.....

Re: Wat are good tyres for our 3 series bimmers

PSS is quite noisy to me leh.

anyway, ALL tyres r good if u dun drive like F1, rain or shine...coz if not every other car without the "good" tyre brands mentioned above would all be in longkangs during raining periods or accidents everywhere in dry seasons. Funny thing is if u go see wat tyres conti cars r using n those who kenna accidents...will never be Nankang or Firestone etc type of "lesser" brands....prob u will see high end ones like Michelin or Pirelli etc...

so...having said that...if u drive like a sane person...I think for comfort n reasonable spirited driving safety, Yokohama advan sport is good..at least for me

Re: Wat are good tyres for our 3 series bimmers

Agree with MW. I regretted switching from CSC5P to PSS. PSS is kan si lang noisy... PUi Pui

Re: Wat are good tyres for our 3 series bimmers

second that. pss is noisier than csc5p
i go with pss because of its super-round-shape. csc5p, i need to roll my rear fender :(
there is a catch for csc5p ... it wear off sibei-fast ... i have to change my rear set about 20k+- mileage

inexpensive/good-performance/not-so-noisy >>> goodyear f1 a2

Re: Wat are good tyres for our 3 series bimmers

I am looking at Yokohama Advan Sport now but all will tell me raining time sure go into long kang.

Yokohama Advan Sport is VERY comfortable and quiet and I used it on my E60 with M5 rims for 2 years..very good leh..Problem is the compound hardens up fast and become like RFTs

I thot Goodyear F1 A1 (which I was on after Yoko) was same.

I am on PSS now.. noisy but class. Everyone thumbs up and I feel like I can now drive in the rain and not be afraid of long kangs.

Cb no end

I think it is dangerous to assume correlation here:

(1) Conti cars owners are less cost-conscious (but I sense that this might be changing now) - especially high-powered contis, whose owners tend to pay for performance. I cannot visualise an M3 or a C63 on Chao Yang tyres. In fact, even high-performance JDM owners (GTRs, Evos, STIs) pay for performance. There is a huge sample base of Michelin 0r Pirelli users to start with.

(2) Accidents happened because of many factors. Sure, based on your observation, these conti cars might not be on Nankang or Firestone (not popular to begin with) - the lower statistics could, in my hypothesis, be due to (a) a smaller user population and (b) a more "conservative" driver profiles. High performance cars usually use high performance tyres, but the drivers might breach the threshold of these tyres with their driving styles. It is not (necessarily) the tyres which cause the accident.

(3) Ever wonder what will happen if these high performance cars use tyres of inferior nature instead? Cannot speculate that the outcomes will be worse, but I think we already know the answer. In this regard, the converse of high-performance-tyres-with-accidents proposition might not even be logical at all.

[Hoot ah !!!]

Re: Wat are good tyres for our 3 series bimmers

Anyone heard of Roadstone? Korean made.
I'm trying it on a Honda. Grip is not bad but a bit noisy.
Best part is quite cheap. I bought 19" Roadstone (8000 I think) for less than 280 a pc.
Not scare can try...

For my F10, I use PSS cos everyone says good and so i bought from Top 93.
Love it everyday till my wife complain why i paid good tyre for myself but substandard for hers...
