buy 325 better.at least its still a german car....not jap car...

Re: To Buy or not to buy (e90 320 vs IS250)

if 320i is only in your shopping list; go for IS250 without batting an eyelid. only 325i and beyond would be the real contender here!
dun expect generous equipment option spec out of bimmer, they are never generous.
look at the GS300 - the equipment list put even the 550i to shame!

most of the car reviews i read comparing the 2, have been comparing IS250 to 325i. in singapore context, thats just not a fair comparison.

Lexus has once again topped the J.D. Power and Associates UK Customer Satisfaction Study, claiming the 2005 Gold Award for an extraordinary fifth successive year. The luxury car brand scored a total of 848 points out of 1000 in the ownership satisfaction survey, well above the industry average of 786 points.

In addition to topping the rankings for overall satisfaction, Lexus was the industry leader in the Quality/Reliability and Vehicle Appeal categories.

Lexus’ outstanding quality and reliability reputation was once again demonstrated with a score of 923 out of 1000 in the Quality/Reliability category.

Lexus also dominated the Vehicle Appeal component of the survey with a score of 870 points out of 1000, well above the industry average of 792 and 26 ahead of second placed BMW.

The Lexus IS200/300 range was the second highest placed model overall in the survey.

The 2005 J.D. Power survey, presented in conjunction with What Car? magazine, was conducted among drivers of cars registered between September 2002 and August 2003. The results were drawn up from more than 23,000 completed questionnaires from both private owners and company car drivers.

Steve Settle, Lexus Director, said: "We are thrilled to be awarded our fifth consecutive Gold Award, a worthy acknowledgment of the excellent work done by our network of centres and the Lexus GB team to ensure our customers experience superior levels of satisfaction.

"It is also quite significant that we are still number one this long after we first topped the survey. This current survey assesses customers that purchased their vehicles after we had been awarded Gold Awards in 2001 and 2002, so these owners had even higher expectations of Lexus delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.

"The next 12 months will see an exciting range of new models join the Lexus line up and we will continue to strive to deliver even higher levels of customer service to all Lexus owners."

In 2005 Lexus has also retained its number one position in the latest Dealer Attitude Survey conducted by the National Franchised Dealers Association and was again named Best Manufacturer in the 2005 Driver Power report published in Auto Express magazine.

Erm.. guys is it my CSA is playing hard or is there a new central booking system that we have to go thru to make a PML service appointment. I'd take the 6 cyc Lexus... Fking hate PML.

Re: To Buy or not to buy (e90 320 vs IS250)

then im selling my german bmw to buy the jap is250!

Re: To Buy or not to buy (e90 320 vs IS250)

Owning BMW and PML service is like love hate relationship.
back in year 2000 my e46 318i was OK for 6 months until i traded in for a e46 320i when all hell broke loose, endless problem throughout the first 12 months. Throughout the traumatic in/out PML workshop i built relationship with CSA. Imagine couple of the receptst at service center know my last name already whenever i handed in the service slip. At the 3rd year sold the 320i and came on current ride.
The e60 being the first batch was also not problem free but it is tolerable coz of the CSA i stick with. Fix all things w/o telling me i am paranoid. For more serious problems go direct with workshop chief. Loaner car always made available if my ride stays more than 1 nite in workshop.
as it is now, i am not ready to part the BMW marque to go to others when i am nobody and have to start the long and painstaking relationship building.

You like the marque and stick to it and care less anybody else says anything about it.

Re: To Buy or not to buy (e90 320 vs IS250)

Hey, how do you get them to give you a loaner car. I only got it twice before.

Re: To Buy or not to buy (e90 320 vs IS250)

yeah teach me how to get the loaner car manz...

Re: To Buy or not to buy (e90 320 vs IS250)

My dad's got a Lexus, their after sales is excellent, they don't always get it right, but they do try very hard.

Apart from the sales exec. offering to pickup and return the car for servicing, they also offer lots of freebie events organized exclusively for Lexus car owners eg. movie premiers, car launches, golf tournaments, drives up north etc. These are quite frequent, about every quarter.

but thats exactly the point. there are some dealers where you dont need to go through all that to build a relationship... the service just comes standard.

who is the perfect dealer? Borneo Motor? C'mon. C&C? Premiun Auto? Malayan Motor?
i'd like to know ;-)

Re: To Buy or not to buy (e90 320 vs IS250)

I would like to know too. All I know is that PML service is a great letdown.

Re: To Buy or not to buy (e90 320 vs IS250)

I don't think there is such a thing as a perfect dealer in SG.

However, having been through C&C for my Merc, PML for BMW and Motor Ultima for Audi, I can say that Borneo Motors has so far given me the best and most-prompt service for my current Lexus servicings (total 3 years so far and still counting). No re-works, no mulltiple visits. Always first-time-right.

Added on to the whole scheme of things, is of course, Lexus' extreme reliability ... something I had never thought was even possible, after owning a string of German cars which also came with their attendant UNreliability.

Kudos to Borneo Motors (at least their Lexus arm) for trying hard, fitting their "The Relentless Pursuit Of Perfection" motto. They have recently upgraded their customer lounge and I can say that its better than PML's Alexandra Road 'fish market' where sales and servicing are all in the same hall.

I will definitely upgrade to the IS250 the next time ... that's for sure.
