I would jump in to buy the cross pipe but unfortunately there is a need to cut the stock pipe to have it installed. This will be a problem if I want to revert back to stock for inspection....Now I'm really not getting much satisfaction from the exos except for the looks...

Yes but not their other end right? The other end must cut to replace the mid pipe...that end if revert back must weld and inspection time they will see

Are we talking about an ispection from BMW or from the authorities?

If it's the 2nd case they can't say anything if you fit the stock exhaust back, welded or just with an adaptor. BMW sell the stock parts separated and there are even reference point where to cut the exhaust (for example if you damage the centre pipe you don't need to replace the whole system).

If it's the 1st case if it's a catback the only part which the warranty will become invalid for are the exhaust components themselves.

Really? Cos Eric from Jeep Chee told me its a risk I have to take if I bolt it back or weld it back for Viacom inspection. He can't guarantee that I'll definitely pass inspection since its been cut from the front pipes....

That's strange...I can assure you that BMW selsl the parts separately in case of accident!

This is the ETK page of the exact part the Supersprint x-pipe replace:

I think that as long as the parts of the exhaust are genuine or approved, even if they are not a whole system but welded or fitted toghether with adaptors, you should be good...

Mind you, I'm not an expert on ispections in other countries.

Your rationale makes a lot of sense to me...and I was set on buying the Supersprint centre pipe but Eric is not giving me the same answer as you which worries me.

Got the AR downpipes done up by Calvin at 2277....KILLER STUFF!!! My car response SOoooooo well now. Unfortunately, the Supersprint mufflers got a whole lot more bassy....and I mean BASSY....and kinda annoying...I wonder if I should get the mid pipes done...or should I operate the mufflers....
