From what I found out, with an imported second hand car, PARF benefits start from original date of registration in origin and not from date in Singapore. So if importing for example a 2 year old car, only got 7.5 to 8 years of "scrap value". I guess with the current high COE, the idea of bringing in a newer second hand car makes better sense.

As for warranty, if you don't mind being "handled" by non agents, there are thrid party workshops that provide you warranty cover as far as I know.

In terms of doing the run around, I heard of a few people that can do for you and arrange everything for a few grand fee.

Do-able and still thinking.

From what I know... if you import the car urself and you have warranty issues pml will honor it... But you have to pay an adoption fee of 10 - 30k before they do anything... And you also have to pay for the repair first before BMW asia return you the money... Therefore i think if you wanna import yourself then dun go back to pml...

I think each dealer is different, and PML may be so.

For Stuggart, if your foreign AD has already registered your name with Porsche AG, then you don't have to pay adoption or upfront service fee. I didn't, and have enjoyed free work done on my car. If however you bought the car from PI, then chances are that your name wouldn't appear in Porsche database, and you are at the mercy of local AD.

Remember there's also the 10K additional tax.

Also, be careful about your purchase price declaration; some unscrupulous PIs artificially lower the declared purchase price, hence OMV and taxes. A few of them had been caught.

Finally, do your sums carefully and put in buffer. A few grand here and there for intermediaries and soon your arbitrage goes away. Not forgetting that FX can move against you very quickly. The GBP FX moved up a few basis points during the 3 week freight time for my car, and I paid 3K in total more than if the car had arrived earlier.
