PSS9 Settings

I have been going on Sunday morning convoy driving in Malaysia on NS and B-roads.

I find that the PSS9 settings for front and rear which I have (but cannot remember what it is liao) for balance between everyday driving in Singapore and the occassional trackday, a bit too bumpy on the B-roads where the roads can be uneven.

What do you guys recommend for a balance between everyday driving in Singapore and B-road driving? I am driving a E46 cabriolet. Thanks.

Re: PSS9 Settings

Uneven roads sure bumpy ride Mr Mixmaster

Ur car is a cab, rear heavy so u should put harder setting to begin with..
Thing is after awhile all these settings just "wear out"

Eg, if u r on 6 now, after a while, it's actually like 5

I started off with 6F 5R, after 1yr felt too comfortable, went down to 4/3...
Still comfortable, bit of roll...Gave up, the springs were the problem so changed to GC

For track day, 2/2 is all you should do at max
Never set to max hard on any compression/damping adj shocks.
That's what KW website says.

For you, 3 all round :)

Pak

Thanks, I think last time you recommended and I am on 5F & 3R.

The B-roads are definately more interesting and challenging to drive on. The drivers in the convoy that I follow are very experienced drivers and I need good suspension system to keep up with them, especially going round sweeping bends/corners.

However, at the same time, the roads are uneven in certain stretches and my poor passengers feel the jolts and bumps when we are going at high speeds over uneven terrain.

The PSS9 are very good to work with already, good enough for amatuer - experienced skilled drivers. your settings 5F and 3R is off, try the other way around... that way when you enter the corner and it's apex you'd still feel the car hugging instead of a wavy feeling.

huh? how come like that? i thought bilstein provides a lifetime guarantee as do H&R who make the springs?

Re: PSS9 Settings

Springs are lifetime warranty against sagging
Shocks aren't.

Hi shaaz

Sorry, I forgot which is which liao. My settings could be the other way around. Anyway, I think I will try Triple M's recommendations of 3F and 3R.

No regrets installing the PSS9s though. It allowed me to lower my M3 and improved the car's handling and the looks than that is provided by a stock M3 suspension.

For sure, try 3F and 4R, considering ur rear to be pretty heavy.

hmm, didn't know that. for the price premium that bilstein commands, i would have thought that the shocks were warrantied as well.

Re: PSS9 Settings

Maybe I m wrong mate but shocks are wear n tear item so I suppose no lifetime warranty

But i have seen a case like premature wear of shock ( crack in this case ) and it was replaced under warranty.

Re: PSS9 Settings

jack... i have been using 2/2 all round for everyday use even on bumpy roads.... is it okay? feels like my car is breaking apart... camber plate is making tons of noise too :furious:

Re: PSS9 Settings

u r mad
the springs are too soft, compression/damping too hard = kaboom.
What camber plate are u using? That Ozzie made one?

oic... hmm, if even the mighty bilsteins are giving problems, i think i shall stick to stock... i really need some "Stick to Stock" stickers. paste one on my windscreen and one on my laptop monitor...

kaboom = cepat rusak

KMac proves to be ok at first then after awhile starts moving ard.
It was quiet on my Z4 tho, 2 track days.

Personally not my choice tho i bought it..It looks like crap.
Reason i bot K-Mac coz there wasnt any after mkt compatible adj camber/castor plate for the KW struts.

My suggestion to u, remove the K-Mac asap.
