Re: POD air filters VS Stock airbox: Dyno run

open pod also need heat shield...pretty dumb to just install open pod and let it breathe in hot air from engine bay....haha

stock is best.... dun mod air filter.

Have to agree with you on this.....

Re: POD air filters VS Stock airbox: Dyno run

can mod just change the filter element to K&N but maintain the stock air box

Re: POD air filters VS Stock airbox: Dyno run

won't lose power good enough actually alot of such mod is more of a feel good factor rather than actual gain.

Re: POD air filters VS Stock airbox: Dyno run

I will not spend $$ on something to give feel good factor if it is touted as a performance product.

but thats just me....

Last time got somebody install green mushroom.
No names mentioned :p

Re: POD air filters VS Stock airbox: Dyno run

Changing the air filter alone is just like changing your muffler alone. Apart from the filter, you have to mod the throttle body, the intake manifold and also tune the air fuel ratio. Not even talking about the exhaust system (header, mid pipe and muffler) yet..

Stock is best.

Re: POD air filters VS Stock airbox: Dyno run

open pod filters void engine warranty. PML say one.

Re: POD air filters VS Stock airbox: Dyno run

Anyone tried insulating the air box with stock filter? Any good?

Re: POD air filters VS Stock airbox: Dyno run

FYI: If u use open pod w/o a proper heat shield, I promise u that your Hp/Nm will be worst off i.e. air filter is e only mod you do. Yes, e engine needs more air to upz e Hp/Nm but it is about more cool air and not more hot air where the resultant Hp/Nm will be lower over OEM.

Please be informed that your daily driving on SG road is generally stop-move-stop-move, heat will build up in e engine bay, we are not talking about tracking but daily driven practicality. Therefore what the open pod is sucking in, is primarily hot air w/o proper shielding and/or 'ducts/piping' to channel air from exterior.

Advise: Don't just mod mod bcoz mod is shiok, u got to know what is what, when is when, what compliant what, etc etc.

Cheerzzzzzz all

Are you talking about Street Open Pod setup OR Open Pod setup by Stett Performance?

Anyway Steet Performance Open pod setup are known as CAI. Generally all CAI are fine since the Open Pod filters are housed within a 'box' which is heat resistant or low conductor of heat (e.g. CF, reflective material, etc) while there's piping leading to an opening to allow external air to be channelled to e air filter.

But then again, for daily driven rides w/o heavy rev-ing like u do in e track, it does not serve u well... remember e Stop-Move-Stop-Move thing? Worst is city driving. For pure tracking and drag races, yes it helps a little unless you r doing massive mods then e air filter needs to be improved.

Cheerz.
