PML or MA

I am having a weird wooooooo sound whenever i engage to R gear while wanting to park into a parking lot.

Went to MA to do a check and was advice to leave the car there for min 2 days to diagnose .
Went to PML to do a check and was advice to make appointment and send the car for diagnose min 1 day but if found parts defect. Will have to wait till parts arrive then arrange for another day to replace.
The service technician , Raymond, saw my car plate holder from MA. Immediately tell and say " Sir, I saw your car plate frame from MA, if you mod your car at MA I would advice you to go back to MA to rectify this problem."

I was like . What has car plate frame has to do with my car issue. So I tell him, oh if I change to C&C car plate frame means I've to go back to C&C to rectify my car issue? He LAN LAN Shut his mouth.

He then tell me " notice you change your exo to aftermarket exo and we will check according to see if it's your exo causing the problem. I'm beginning to boil alr and I told him I've 4 cars changing the same setup as mine, all have no problem and seems like I'm the sway one? I tell him that I'm going to bring my stock exo along and let u change back to stock and rectify. If found out that not the exo problem I'm going to make you pay for all my time and expense. He again LAN LAN STFU....

Moral of the story, Car is from PML. Should I send to PML or MA ? Seems like PML don't really recognize MA's work. I thought they're the same side since MA is their authorize workshop?

Well, I've more or less decided to give MA a try for the servicing of my F13. At the end of the day, YOU paid bloody good money to buy a car from the AD, and PML jolly well should honour their commitment to after sales care. It's also a fact that MA is an authorized service centre - so,whether or not PML likes it, as long as your warranty is valid, you have every right to ask them to fix it.

Whether or not they will be able to do so successfully at one go & without the theatrics and compound your car @ their workshop for ages is another story though....

car buy from where... go back there to bang table....

if the SA is the SL type... then ask him if he prefers to talk to you lawyer instead...

PML SA also saw my MA car plate holder... then he ask " you go Munich for service?" ... my reply... " I go MA to use their toilet... smell nicer than PML's one " he LL....

Well, I sent my F10 to MA for service yest. Was told that software was upgraded to a newer version.... All my issues were so call "solved" when I collected my car but today all the same issue surface again. Text The SA and Hendra and they ask me to send the car down again.... In a Delimma nw. Am I able to see the version of the software they upgrade in the idrive? In a Delimma now.

Please allow me to clarify, MA is not part of PML, we are an Authorized BMW Dealership and Premium Service Centre same as PML. We are ADs to BMW not the other way around. The warranty that comes with your vehicle is a BMW warranty, hence, both Ma and PML must honour and service these warranties. As to which AD you choose to go to for your repair or servicing needs is entirely your choice as a consumer. I trust that clears up any misconceptions about the differences between MA and PML. Whichever workshop that suits you best and feel most comfortable with.... Bring your car there.

Personally i would prefer MA....

Hopefully you can replicate the 'problematic' sound there and then and demonstrate it to the SA.... They acknowledge the issue, get it fixed.... Everyone happy.

No use... You alleged got 'sound'.... Leave it there... SA can't replicate it, or does not hear it... Says nothing wrong, nothing fixed.... you get upset cos nothing fixed....

Technical issue solutions are not as straight forward as any vehicle owner hopes it would be. There are situations where a longer timeframe of evaluation is needed to ascertain the root cause of the issue. It might be symptomatic of other bigger issues or it could be a simple one. I sincerely hope you can give us the opportunity to solve your issues. The car ultimately comes from BMW and not any singular AD. But that decision ultimately lies with you. Jason, I'm doing trial on both PML and MA as this is my 1st conti car and I know nuts about all these conti car......

Yes you're right. I went to PML and demo to the SA and they want to investigate it further.

Thank you for your explanation. I'm a very fussy owner so therefore I've high expectation with my workshop. I understand that not all issues are easy to solve and I share your pains too. I'm a reasonable and understanding person too...

i had "sound" issue episode before as well...

as MA had more service oriented team... i went there to get my problem sorted out...
after 3 visits of multiple days in the workshop... "sound" not solved... and I can't "bang" table with MA.. they didn't take my moolah...

at that point... i had to go back to PML.. 1st visit... say problem sorted.. not sorted... 2nd time bang table.. got their attention... after multiple days in workshop... problem finally sorted out...

for me.. lessons learned
1) MA and PML tech don't talk to each other.. if you can't solve it at one.. u start over again with the other... no sharing of tests or things done
2) PML would seem to have a more experienced core team of techs than MA to service non-M cars.. that is if you can get PML's attention

So its mechanical or software or hardware problem?

When did you last change transmission fluid? Rear axle / gearbox oil?

Could it be your rims rubbing against fender lining? Or tyres rubbing? Is your car newly lowered on coilovers? Fender lining loose? Maybe bearing problem? Think hard.....


No matter how many software updates from here to timbuktoo... All would not solve the sound via software update if it was a mechanical / hardware issue.

When did you last change transmission fluid? Rear axle / gearbox oil?

No matter how many software updates from here to timbuktoo... All would not solve the sound via software update if it was a mechanical / hardware issue.

I guess is a hardware issue ..need them to diagnose further.

Bro, my car is only 15K mileage. I don't think have to change transmission fluid, Rear axle / gearbox oil as of nw?

some bolt/nut was defective (worn out screw threads)..

PML for that 2nd visit also sorted out out problems i didn't know I had.. car used to have a very low tone idling "tak tak tak" sound from engine at idle.. i treated it as normal.. but they fixed it as well..

MA told me that idel "tak tak tak" sound is normal

all this from a six months old car at that point in time.....LOL... BMW is really Bring More Worries
