OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

No sub groups pls!!
We're one big FAMILY !

This will only start to segregate ppl.

Yours is yours, mine is mine.
Eventually, you'll see all the E90s parked together, the E46s parked together, E60s parked together.

No more ANYTHING GOES attitude...

Like Kenn mentioned, there's always E46fanatics, E90posts.
Really dont see a need for this to be honest.
It might be more organised in a way but BMW-SG has always been famous for its togetherness attitude.

Just my 2cents.

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

rather can starting informal sub groups...

why not we follow our malaysian brudders...

create sub forums for 3er , 5er , 6er ,7 er

i think it will fit ryan's intention of a more focused posting and information

without all the disadvantage of being more diversified

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

Firstly, there are too many of the 2 cents floating around... Next time put them into my pocket.

i would say the automotive purist should not discriminate on forumers who are not experience enough about cars... and asking stupid newbie question.. because i have alot of friends who are in the forum and they never post due to the exact reason... lack of self esteem , being afraid to be labelled as newbie or idiot...

i myself was flamed , suaned or whatsoever when i first joined the forum 3 years ago asking newbie and stupid question...

my thoughts at that time : ' i am not going to post here again... if what they want is intelligent question and answers all the time'

then i start becoming active in the forum after being what kenn mentioned a social member who come to meetups and make friends..thats who i get to know people..join the sub groups and start becoming active in the forum..

ryan , rather than thinking of implimenting sub groups , i would rather you impliment the demerit system point... coming from someone who talks alot of OT... this should mean something if i feel that this forum is getting out of hand with our own discussion which should be done outside the forum (which i feel that by creating sub groups will make this worse... not improve the situation)

pardon me if the post gets out of point... i come from the BoTay category afterall...

For once, I wholeheartedly agree with Terry boy.

The entire demerit point system is sufficient to whip these boys into shape. As for sub sub sub group thing, may we ask, what was the primary objective? If it's purely for better branching of topics, we could still possibly do it without branching people into groups based on their cars.

Whoeversaid earlier and let me reiterate, if it's not broken, why fix it. UNLESS for the better. In this case, the magnitude of doubt far exceeds the definity of changing for the better.

Still my 2 cents... No inflation.

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

Dear All, Have we really seen vBulletin 3.7 First Look! - vBulletin Community Forum
The Interface and Features are better than what we are having now. I vote for this.

As for the different sub folders and sub groups. May we have an example of those please. Everyone has got different concept of sub groups or sub sub groups or sub whatever. Could admin please specify examples of maybe one sub group so that the picture will be clearer. Thanks.

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

I vote for having an open forum. However, instead of grouping the technical stuff by parts eg, exhaust, wheels etc, would it not be easier to group them by models or series so that a person who wants to mod his exhaust for an E90 will not have to go open a thread that is for E60 for eg. I know there are some technical stuff that transcends several series (eg E60 523 similar to E90 323) so we need a fix for that. Just my opinion from my experience when looking for advise/leads to mod my ride.

+1 agreed with Terry. I only agree with subforums. Not segregation of users. The segregation of users serve no real purpose.

All the time I thought the conversation revolved around subforums, but Ryan has clarified that it also involves segregation of users which I don't agree with. Even if one user can join multiple `clubs' what is the real use actually in this forum where regulars know each other and to newbies or casual browsers it is meaningless to see who and who is in 3-series or 5-series `user segregation clubs'.
