OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

IMO, the more information one gains on any topic is knowledge gained. One cannot be tunnel visoned on any topic. Know a little about many things is a good thing.
Like the 335 oil cooler issue, doesnt pertain to me, but it is interesting to read, knowledge gained, as you never know, maybe i will have a 335 someday.
Porche has this and that clutch, i never knew that, knowledge gained.
E46 330 brakes do fit an E36, never knew that.
If you look past the non BMW related topics, there really is much information to learn on this forum, wether it be in sub folders/groups or the open forum.
If one has a genuine interest, then that person will read it all.
Nissan Silvia dot com even has a fitness sub forum, it can all be relevant in a car forum.

I vote to leave the forum an open one, no sub group folders, you never know when knowledge gained will help another mate

argumentative, Kenntona. I see what you are trying to say but in my opinion they are nit-picking points.
In a similar fashion, I am seeing your argument skewed to your ideology of how the forum should be run - based on your ideal parameters, your kind of forumers profile, your type of automotive topics and so on. Now, those are not nit-picking, but those are very myopic and self-contained perspectives.

As for me, live and let live. If I am not interested, dun read it. Someone might.

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

Don't change......

All's well...........

I have tried going to SHC (Honda) and you will realize that the different sub-groups do not really and actively communicate with each other and that is like what some bros here have mentioned - Diluted forum unity................

Cheers!

its possible for me to accept pure allegiance, hot blood n passionate loyalty from one and not from the other...in the views expressed above.

i cannot respect the view of one who shud be starting their revolution in their own country instead of starting one here. you cant be lanlan in ur home ground and yet expect ur views to be taken seriously here.

but i know opinions r being seeked right now by the admins...n so u r entitled to state your view.

my view? life was better for the last 3 weeks.....nothing shud be changed.

check my post count, you think i dunno how to use this forum, or what happens whithin it? Newbies would know if they read all the guff about rules and regs. Drives me insane the incessant posts i see "cannot PM, cannot start thread" but I still offer them advice. THATS what this forum is about.

Toto, my views in my own country also worthless.

This thread is just another pissing contest, dissapointing

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

Hi all,

Thanks for all the good points which have been submitted so far.

Do remember to practice tact and consideration for each other in this thread. Yes, this is an open discussion and please, if you feel you can restrain yourself to posting in retaliation, do so.

Let's keep the opinions (clean and in consideration) coming and let them be in benefit for the entire community.

yeah i guess leave the status quo

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

got Mobilise about tis issue..

IMHO, dont categorise into different sub-groups just because there are different groups driving different cars or always organising an activities which always the same group turns up.

Although I dont join the forum very long ago like some old timers, but it has always been a good mix of different models of BMW, be it E46s, E90s, or any other cars of other makes.. Since I joined, I know that I am happy to be back in the forum because even if now I am not driving, everyone welcomes me. I can mix into everyone and i believe the main issue now should be UNITY between everyone.. I have never joined Futsal since the day I joined but I still like to join in the fun of being their 'group' chatting in their thread.

Let us think back at the time when Nic just joined us. A young kid with an extreme knowledge of cars and very happily joining us for meet ups and 'makan', does it mean tat he have to have a sub-group under 'BMX' or 'XBOX'?

I dont know if I have OT or not, but its just my humble feel..
(I feel that I OT.. Opps)

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

Sub groups should be left to open forces. In my little sub group, we have a couple of E90s, E46s, a Z4... ... And of course, I don't drive a bimmer. I would never be encouraged to post in BMWsg should I be a newbie and not driving a Bimmer or plainly not driving. This is a forum for BMW enthusiasts, not mere owners. No?

Simply put, from the sheer example of my exasperating efforts from organising the KTV events would be even further broken down and wouldn't command the type of response I would expect. It is good to have leaders to take care and of course, the work load of the admins will be significantly reduced but the feasilibity of that and to keep the entire forum intact, Ryan I think you know the repurcussions better than I do.

Just my 2 cents... I don't drive a bimmer anyway.

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

Hwa... sub sub ah. In the general discussion are the threads are doing just that... why need to sub some more. Wonder whether "Ah Orh" have a sub or not... .:( leave it simple and transparent.

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

we shouldnt break up the mass. coz after doing up my mods, i just want to socialise with other drivers. of coz some will find there are too many OT and jokes.

if that is the case, in state, we should have a hardcore sub sub group for the ppl who just want to talk about BMW. they can skip the rest.

Given my involvement in the forum, i won't dare to fully say I know the full repercussions.

We do rely on the voice and lead of the community on the whole to provide their feedback in all varying perspectives :)

Again, this is a good thread to open up for everyone to throw in the opinions and feelings about the idea, so we, the administrators can decide on the more appropriate direction.

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

Let's just say, to eventually having to manage the respective leaders might be tougher than you would like.

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

WAH....

hi guys... i'm sort of a new oldbie here (its been a while...)

its great to see the forum grow to its current state... but i strongly believe tat certain things are best left unchanged...

to maintain certain nostalgic n original "familiarity"... plus it will look like the forum is more simple n "conducively" united n purposeful n yet informative...

united we stand... :)

+1.

Imagine a casual cocktail party or a formal seminar.

It is one thing to let people mingle and decide who they are gonna sit with. Natural sub-groups......

It is another thing to split tables or rows of seats and designate different groups to sit together based on certain pre-determined criteria.

Jasmine, i tips my hat to you, well farkin said young lady.

You may join the sub sub sub sub group of OLL, Toto and myself.

Re: OPEN DISCUSSION - Sub groups forums.

perhaps Ryan can illuminate us with a basic structure of the sub groups. That will answer a lot of questions regarding how far the sub grouping will go, whether too far or not.

In absence of which, the main crux of the matter is not at this time `how many subforums' but rather `should there be better organization of the information'. The extent of sub-sub-sub will be left for answering if people are interested in the principle of better segregation and classification of the posts.
