Ok I think we all can agree that those cars (except the mini 1.6) are all very common on the roads. I mean you see them everywhere you go. They are much more common that say CTRs, Evos, and certainly exotics.

Do we also agree that the cars you listed are almost never modified or driven irresponsibly by nutbag drivers? I'm not so sure on this one cos guys in the other recent thread were complaining about Wishes being aggressive. But I guess for the rest of the list we can more or less agree.

So given how many cars of these cars there are on the road, can anyone remember the last time you saw a news report or stomp report about accidents (esp car to car) involving them? Not just small accidents but accidents like this one where entire halves of the car get destroyed, wheel(s) gone, etc. Or other accidents where engines fly meters away, car wraps around tree, or gets chopped in half, flips, or crashes into wall and catches fire, etc.

Singapore registered MX-5s, F430s, Caymans, GT3s, Murcis, CTRs, Evos, regular Lancers, Elises, Golfs, WRXes, all have in recent years been involved in accidents of the nature described in paragraph above. What is common to all of them? Why are the crash report numbers so darn high relative to the much more common Corollas and Latios, etc.? There's really only one conclusion IMO.

Which is why I never really extend benefit of doubt in situations like the above because the odds of it being correct are just crushingly small, right next to zero.

Sorry to bump this thread, but with the moron Ferrari driver doing what he did, and the type of car, it's just another data point that supports what I wrote before in this thread.

If a Corolla had done the same damage, it would still be news.

Let's not just believe that flashy cars get it bad only because they are flashy and there's report bias. In fact, a lot, and a very high % of high performance, sports, exotic, cars get driven very idiotically because they were bought for performance and if you don't use it on track, where are you going to use it except public roads in SG or MY? If you stretch performance car legs (even the lowest end ones), it will be illegal and dangerous. Cars are getting faster and roads more congested, tighter.

So tell yourself, your friends, relatives to calm down and take it easy... save it for the tracks, and keep innocents alive.
