iPod and iPhone connectivity on F20

Hi everyone,

I want to connect my iPod touch via USB n retain iPod functionality via iDrive. Do I need to buy a BMW adaptor for this or can I just use the regular Apple cable? Does it charge it as well?

Next I want to pair my iPhone via Bluetooth, will the iDrive confuse the iPod and iPhone music libraries?

You have to get the adapter.

No it won't.

Normal USB cable will work. Go try it.

Thanks guys, I can't find anything online n my car won't be here for another few weeks. I'm sure the car comes with the adaptor right cos I saw it in the showroom car.

Leslie, if you are referring to the Iphone cradle? No it's an optional item. USB port comes free though.

I definitely don't need the cradle, I'll just leave the iPod in there all the time. I read in the manual that there are two ports, one in the glove an one in the armrest, is this correct?

My iPod Classic is always plugged into the USB port in the armrest compartment. I can control the playlists from iDrive. No problem.

It also charges the iPod.

I just bought the Iphone/Ipod Y adapter online on ebay. Paid USD 15 including shipping. Let's see if it works when I get it.

This is what I got from Jeff who is selling the OEM Y Cable here.

If your car is manufactured this year, the original ipod cablethat came with your Ipod should work. Try out using the original cable first and see if you can see the whole playlist.

My car should be delivered by next week, can't wait to find out!

Ok it's confirmed, for my Jul 2012 car, Apple's white iPod cable works, no need aux.

Can work no problem. I using those. Can charge can play song.
