Intalling Gauges in E46

I have been thinking for quite some times to install my water temp/voltage gauges in the storage compartment shown in the pic below. I've seen such installation on some bimmers' E46 and looks really "swee".

The current gauges installed by one accessories shop in town (P*h S*ng, always advertised in H** ST*** Magazine) in my E46 is really...................... CRAPS!!!!.:furious: :furious: :furious: Not only my water gauges is still not functioning properly until today (the temp is always at the maximum of 150 C), but went back to the shop for 3 times and still could not solve the problem. #@%X#$%XXX (Sorry, just wanted to release my anger  )

Is it really that difficult to put on some gauges for bmw? I don't believe it. Is there any bros out there can recommend to me some accessories shops that can do the gauges installation as described? A reliable one, please.

This is exactly the reason why I posted this thread. I was told by Ah Wee to look for an accessories shop to do these. Why ah? :uhhh: Probably he thought my car is not worth his skill and wasting his time???:screwedu: Or probably my money is too stink :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Any other recommended shops, brothers?

Re: Intalling Gauges in E46

you could have bought a defi-link unit which is has a small lcd display which will dispay your oil and water temp, oil pressure, exhaust temp, fuel pressure readings, and it will all fit in your little compartment... thats what I did....

Did you buy it from ST Powered? If not, where you bought and installed it? This is definitely of great help, something I've been looking forward. Can PM me how much you've paid for the device+installation? :)

Re: Intalling Gauges in E46

i wonder were the ladies staring at Alex or the gauges along Bugis on Sunday..

Re: Intalling Gauges in E46

I bought my gauges at Garage-R... you can ask them how much it is.. forgot the cost already...

Re: Intalling Gauges in E46

I think he had bad experience with BVo it seems, correct? why would that guy tell him go to accessory shop then? 318 NewBoy is my buddy, I already purchased some stuff from him before, please lah, help him as much as you can.

Re: Intalling Gauges in E46

Thanks for the cheer, buddy. :yummie: Our fellow forumers have been of great help already, really appreciate that. That's the spirit we should have in this forum - helping each other, isn't it? No bad experience with BVO. In fact, Ah Wee and Bernard are good guys, my ride is in superb cond. after the servicing and body works in BVO.

Be cool, be cool. :woottt: hehehe.

Re: Intalling Gauges in E46

yo, if i remember correctly, my whole system including all the sensors for oil, water temp, boost, exhaust temp, oil pressure, the display unit, boost gauge, central control unit all cost me about SGD 1.2k or something close to that...

I've checked the pricing of your recommended set-up with the relevant workshops, it's similar to what you have paid. Thanks, buddy. :)

After giving it a consideration, I think the LED diplay unit is far more advance than my needs. As such, I'm still hesitating in choosing between a Din-gauge or individual gauge meters to be mounted on the storage compartment (right under the aircon/audio-head-unit). Have already asked around with some accessories shops to do that mounting, seems like no one is willing to do the job (may be not much of profit margin, huh?). ......................Probably might just give-up intalling gauges in the end. :( :(

Re: Intalling Gauges in E46

are you serious? no one wants to do it? what is this world coming to!!

Re: Intalling Gauges in E46

i think autobacs will install it for you if you buy the gauges from them. they're not very popular with this forum although i'm not sure why... $10 for an oil change is pretty hard to beat imho.
