Re: I8 questions

You've probably done all your research....but let me spam you further with more internet links.

seems like F1 technology is in the works for this car....brake energy regeneration, electric hybrid, small turbo petrol engine etc....

not yet until I understand it better to do evaluation. I like the shape that's about it....for now

my questions:

if both combine does 700km. n that battery does 50km. n that tank is 24 litre. n its a 1.5L big turbo 3 cylinders. the maths don't add up. n yes I get it. it seems that u need to hv full fuel + batt on full charge...to get 700km. or 600km or something ludicrous.

so what happens when the batt is drained....does it mean u r left with 700 minus 50...n that 24litre is gonna get me 650km!?! incredible! no? SO we all GUESS its not possible. then what is it?

I don't believe that both the petrol n battery can keep on charging each other of cos.

im trying to understand how it works. u go pml n asked these questions...u only get BLUR look...n the standard answer: its hybrid so it uses less energy. waste time.

also if u notice...the numbers quoted in the brochure clearly states. only works for non standard tank n 195 front 215 rear tires.......that's some skinny stuff for a 1.5ton car....

Re: I8 questions

i have the impression the power always come from the battery
when you floor, the petrol engine kicks in and you never feel no power
when battery alone not enough to move the car based on the speed you want ... engine kick in
whole idea is electric car to cruise as silent as possible. anytime need more power or power no enough which ecu know and activate petrol engine
it should work like prius ... lol

One more link for u toto...

BMW i8 review - Telegraph

"Clearly the 113mpg EU economy claim is ludicrous and Carsten Breitfeld, the i Project head, is candid about the real consumption. He says that without a recharge, i8 economy will be about twice that of an M3 – say 40mpg. We achieved 52.2mpg in a throttle-caressing cruise and 27.3mpg driving hard through the canyons."

There is an optional 42L tank. 650/42=15+km/L.

Perfectly possible with a tiny engine on highway.

haha FC chat here very welcome. that's the hole point isn't it. hole point? whole point I mean....

if 700k car. u travel 15k km a yr.....that's 1250 km a mth. assuming 600km mileage. per charge and per 24L tank.

each charge is 3 bux an hour from what I see in MFC or ORQ or UOB....2 hours to complete. so 12 bux a mth.

each tank of vpower is 60 bux....so x 2.

total of appx 130 bux energy a mth.....vs say a tank 500km....costing 180 bux......

so as u can see..gas alone..don't save u much at all. n u probably hv to drive like a puddy tat......on 195 n 215 tires.
Let me explain to u hor based on what i had read.

That 50km is pure electric & stays within 50km/h, which is possible within CBD area.

That 700km is combination of both petrol engine & electric. In this case, the electric front axle is acting as KERS. By using more electric drive (via recharging), it will extend the mileage of petrol engine. The battery will not be totally drained even in e-drive mode as it will be recharged via brake.

Both mileage is mutually exclusive.

KNNB go there and take photos and to ask prices to impress others? Mai seow lah, who da hell will buy cars in a show like that? All will do their dealer-squeeze and bargaining at the dealer what.......

Re: I8 questions

reviews all I read...very very mixed n confused lot of journalist out there. real world driving I suspect not much savings. im left with the impression that such cars r still infancy stage. tire options..tank options...throw all these in...n u realize that to achieve miserly consumption....u r better off riding a electric scooter.

so heres my verdict. im gonna buy this for the moment:

Electric Scooters (e-scooters) Singapore
