Front Going Lower

Hi,

I'm suspecting that my front springs are old, car is extremely low at the front, 0 finger spacing.
It definately look awesome, but frequent rubbing is quite a concern to me. I'm thought of changing to lower profile tires, 40 to 35, and also doing negative camber, but I thought that shouldnt be the way.
I'm using 18x8.5 +38 Rims.

Ride over some Highway join section is pretty hard, so I highly suspect and feel that its time to change springs.

I hope you guys can recommend me a good lowering spring, that will not lift my car up too high as well, 1-2 finger spacing is fine. Current absorber is Bilstein, yellow in colour, not sure which model it is.

Oh... I was told by someone here that it should be Springs and not shocks, and shocks can last very long... hmm...

yes, spring last longer than shock......if budget allows go for coilover...

i agree, the shocks should last longer than the springs in "normal" use, unless the springs used are not the correct versions for your car model [e.g. e36 316 springs used on an e36 328]; which could result in "bend" springs due to the front weight. i encountered this issue before on my previous ride although they were aftermarket springs (a dutch brand); same car make & model but different engine capacity.

maybe you should get your regular workshop to inspect the springs; e.g. have the springs been cut by the previous owner to achieve a "lower front look". cutting the effective length of the spring is not recommended though shows like "overhaulin" has done it.

Yeah my previous ride was on Coilover, height and damper adjustable, will most probably solve my problem, but budget doesnt allow now so checking out other possibilities. If really no choice then up budget haha...

I dont track, any decent Coilover to recommend? Drift Racing?

Agree it should be shocks. Springs do not wear out.

AH... not going to change Rims, so that means KW is out yeah?

Let say I want to change Shocks, which one should I go for to still have the low low look?

Lo lo lok iz not shock la... iz spring la...

and no, no nid to change rims, just add spacer... (but I dun like)... lol

Go Eibach/H&R + Blistern B8 lur...

Addtional info, problem seems more prominent after I changed both front lower-arms

it shouldn't be the spring's problem as they are long lasting. think the problem lies with the shocks. change the front to a new pair. bilstein b8 is a good choice.

Ok here's some update.

I was advised by a bro to go to Leong Seng and let them have look at my problem and rubbing issues (desperate after finding paint chips on my fender )

Gave him all information about my rims and asked if changing to different Tyre profile helps. He said wont be much different, my Front is just too low (Zero Finger), change to 35 profile also wont help much. Still I asked for price of the Tyres, he helped me call and check, but never push for business at all. Then I asked him if he can tell me a place to ask about suspension, he directed me to a shop next block, few shops away. Thumbs Up for Leong Seng.

Drove to the Suspension shop. Enquired the Reception Girl about springs, she called her boss and I was quoted few hundreds for H&R springs. Another lady told me it might be my absorber, I better check first, gave me a namecard.

I went back down to my car, met the boss, he asked me why never consider BC Fully Adjustable Coilovers. Told him I'm not sure if its only Springs I should change, then he told me, whether or not, BC Coilover is not expensive, told me the price and its actually only double the price of H&R Springs. Nevertheless, he offered to test drive my car. Came back and say my suspension is getting a bit too soft. Offered a bit discount to me and stock will arrive in 3 days if I confirm.

Anyway also contacted the boss that sold me the rims and tyres and if he can offer anything. He replied saying he is really not sure why cos 225/40/18 is really commonly used by others without problem.

So now, my feeling is to go for Coilover since its fully adjustable and comes as a set including rear, and it really seems that my suspensions are old already.

What do you guys think? To go for BC Coilover, or 2nd Hand PSS9 two years old Coilover that people are selling, or just springs or any other brand to recommend?

By the way, had a chance to look at my suspension when changing brake pads. Yellow Bilstein, Black Springs. Couldnt find model number, only saw a hand written marker-pen date "28.1.2006 E S" I suspect that its from Eng Soon in 2006..... wow 5 years old
