Features that I never knew

I dun know abt other models but for E60, you just go into I-drive and select DRL option to on. Yes its the Angel Eyes but its brighter. If you switch on your normal lights, the DRL will "de-activate" and become dimmer, meaning back to non DRL.
I first read about this option somewhere else on the web but try as I might, I can't seem to find it. Does it perhaps require an update to the iDrive software? Btw, I am driving an E60 LCI model.

From the Main Menu, depress the main idrive knob > Select "settings" > select "Vehicle/Tyres" > select "Lights". It should be there. Good luck.

I did check there and for some reason, it isn't listed there. There are only 3 settings there if i recall - triple signal, timing for home coming and welcome home lights. No DRL settings

Not all E60 have the DRL settings selection in their idrive. My 08 E60 don't have also. My friend's 07 E60 has it.

If I'm not wrong, you can ask PML to add in this setting for you in your idrive. I didn't try asking though. Please try and keep us posted!

Re: Features that I never knew

Mine has DRL setting but I don't know how it works! Can someone explain? So if I turn the setting "on", does it mean that the corona rings will light up whenever I start the engine, even with the light switch off?

I can't tell coz my rain/light sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced, so my autoheadlight and rain sensor function is not working. But want to understand what the DRL actually does.

yes..once you enable DRL..
everytime you start your car... the corona ring with always be lited. day or night.
of course at nite if you switch on the headlight or on Auto mode.. the corona ring will dim to "dusk light" brightness level.

i used to enable DRL permanently. .till they both call it quit about 25k km later.. so that is their life expectancies if you on them permanently

Re: Features that I never knew

Thanks! Corona rings will light up. How about the small row of LEDs at the side of the headlights? Do these come on too?

Re: Features that I never knew

Can I ask ... Under the idrive together with the setting for the DRL there is this setting called
Home where the number of seconds can be adjusted.
Sorry if this sounds noob but what is this for?

not sure what version of idrive and ride you got, i think it is called "pathway light"
with engine off and out of the car, if you pull the stalk as if to flash high beam..
the low beam will be turned on per the duration seconds set.
it is meant to light up owner pathway to house door for example.. in some countries.

Mine is a E60 2006 model.

Oh I see, I was wondering what that was for.

Thanks

I don't have problems adjusting mine leh.

If the mirror selector is on driver side, I can manually adjust the driver side mirror and the passenger side mirror will auto tilt.

If I switch the selector to passenger side, mirror will return to normal then I can manually adjust the mirror. Is that what you are referring to?

Re: Features that I never knew

No. I mean the reverse tilt angle. It is so low and every forum in the world faces the same problem.
