Features that I never knew

Re: Features that I never knew

on the contrary, i'm trying to perfect the skill to activate the wiper gently so that it does not activate the washer and stain the bonnet when my bonnet is ghim ghim :errrrrrr:

That's the headlight washer. Not really useful in Singapore with our sunny / rainy weather. In sandy / snowy weather, useful....

The headlight washer will not activate if you switch off your lights. However if your lights are switch on, and you activate your windscreen washer jet, the headlight washer will activate together. I also knew this from a bro's post in this forum.

Re: Features that I never knew

After 2.5yrs of driving my E60 then I realised the Daytime Running Lights are brighter than the normal Angel Eye lights

Re: Features that I never knew

Your head light washers are wired into your screen washer system. Once your lights are on and you request for a screen wash, The wiper, screen washer pump and head light pump are activated. The wipers go in to 1 shot trigger pattern and activates the wipers for about 3 more screen wipes after the request stops. The pumps on the other hand stops when the requests stops. What you are trying to do is to trigger the request short enough to start the wipers working before the pumps get the fluid into the hoses and in the headlight washer case, pressurise the piston to pop them open. Why not just use the screen wipe function? Its pushing the stalk downwards rather than towards you.

Re: Features that I never knew

actually, what i want is wiper fluid to the screen for wiping minus headlight washing that wet the bonnet
ie: to wipe the screen (dust) on dry day

ha ha, yes, the screen washers will usually come on slightly faster than the head light washers cos the pistons need water pressure to build up before they can protrude from the bumper and spray the lights.

1. the "P" light is meant for road side parking acting as warning light. it can be control by pulling the signal indicator stick.

4. if the gear is in Drive position, by pulling the hand brake, it's still possible to move or accidental accelerate.

basically, most features mentioned here are more for safety aspect;

as for seat and side mirror setting, you can set to your desired position with diiferent key, example yours and wifey.

you can open or close window with the remote key.

if with comfort access feature, you cant lock door with key left inside the car.

cheers....too many features to list...

How to you pull the signal indicator stick ? Which direction? And the P light is the side turning light??

The side marking lights are meant to illuminate the corners of your car when parked along the narrow european streets. Try activating your indicators after your shut down the car. You should see the relevant side indicators glow dimly.

That is why the car battery is also so damn big....The car will not drain the battery totally cos the Light Control Module will monitor the battery voltage and shut off the lights when voltage drops. (i cannot remember the exact voltage.....)

cheers

Re: Features that I never knew

If u activate the hazard lights and turn indicator at same time, the turn indicator over rides the hazard light.

I dun know abt other models but for E60, you just go into I-drive and select DRL option to on. Yes its the Angel Eyes but its brighter. If you switch on your normal lights, the DRL will "de-activate" and become dimmer, meaning back to non DRL.

the last time i did this.. got folks knocking my door telling me i forgot to off my light.. duh!

Re: Features that I never knew

Most of these are in the user manual...anyway here is another trivia.

if you have comfort access push button version on your ride.
push the ON/OFF button once.. engine is off
push and hold ON/OFF button for 3 seconds or so... it turns off everything radio/CD and "Park" on the gear will engage.

Re: Features that I never knew

My grouse abt BMW is that when you turn off the engine and even remove keys, the damn cigarette lighter is still on and if that is plugged to a device like a camera it continues! This is weird and hassled.
