Hi, checking if the ceramic pads makes more noise as compared with original pads. How's the feel? I got quite fed up with the brake dust coming of the front brakes and is considering replacing the front pads to ceramic type.

Ceramic pads are suppose to have less noise and less dust generated, do your own research on the different types and brands available and see what suits your needs.

Bushing woes never seem to end. Top mounts were checked and had cracked making a loose clucking sound when going over uneven ground.

Top mounts $85.60 from Eng Soon
Bump Stops and Covers $38.52
Labour to put it altogether $160.50

Next Up Rear axel mounts front and back. Rears have pretty much had it top left and right side have split. Seems to be a pretty common occurrence on the F10s.

Short Review:
Installation done at Juzz Performance approx $230 for the labor to install. Only reason I used them is that some places don't have the bushing press tool.

Would I use them again ? Short answer is NO. Although friendly their prices are WAYYYY above most places. Workmanship is generally ok but because they are busy it takes a long time to get the car back even with an appointment.

Workshop foreman is too fixated on trying to squeeze every $ they can get from each customer instead of trying to build a long term relationship. Any issue that is not immediately obvious is met with a PMLish answer of monitor and get back to them if it persists... I mean its persisting hence I bring it down to you !

Personal experience therefore your mileage may vary.

Side Trip for aircon maintenance, once again highlighting proper tool for the job is needed. 850 g of R134 needed for proper operation of our aircons.

Only managed to recover some 300+ g. System was tested for leaks and non was found.

Previous workshop (codewerx) only hooked up the normal gauges and did some rough estimates which was insufficient for correct operation of the aircon.

Lesson leant $80 paid for the test, gas recovery and top up.

bro RSSID, can i check for the rotor change, do i have to change all 4 at the same time? I'm planning to get the 535 brake and 348mm rotor for the front only like what you did..

Wanted to know if i need to change the back rotor at the same time too..

You don't need to but if you're going to swap the fronts out might as well do the rears to matchy matchy as well. Especially if you're going the Zimmer man sport rotors. Don't cheap out get new pads as well and do a proper brake fluid flush.

That way everything is even and looks the part. If you don't do the pads as well notice the grey line on the rotors as the pads are slightly worn and is NOT making contact on the grey line on the rotor.

Just to add for Jan's long list of repairs

This popped when I got in the car and started it up. Checked the bonnet and the reservoir was more then 1/2 full so suspected either the sensor or float within the reservoir tank at fault.

thumbnail.jpeg

A quick call to Eng Soon and was presented with 2 choices
1. Buy the level sensor only approx $23
2. Buy the whole tank which comes with the float and sensor $107
3.Throw at a workshop and was quoted in excess of $300+ to rectify.

Decided to DiY after watching YouTube and feeling adventurous

Followed the video above, the only thing I did was rig up a coolant removal pump as I just had the entire coolant system replaced 3 weeks ago so I didn't want to waste any of the coolant.

The original coolant in the reservoir, came close to exceeding 2.5L of coolant so get a BIG bottle !

The video above is pretty self explanatory so just pics for now.

Additionally bleed the system make sure no air bubbles in the system and top-up the coolant.

Refill first !

Activate bleed Proceedure

Are u happy with the pads ? Where did you source them if I may ask ?

Am actually looking for Ferodo DS2500 for my MP BBK as the reviews are generally good.

So far so good no real issues with it. Got them off amazon eventually as shipping was more reasonable then trying to buy them locally or direct from EBC direct. EBC was quoting me 90 Pounds for shipping ! Less dust the stock super quiet good stopping power cant ask for much more then that.

Rainy day on the ECP and got rear-ended because driver behind didn't stop in time. Had a front and rear camera so no issue. Other diver was apologetic and settled privately.

Prognosis: Entire rear bumper had to be replaced and repainted as the plastic was too deformed to perform a proper repair.

Repair was done at Divine Splash quoted $1750 for a complete job

Short review. Would I use them again ? Answer is for simple small jobs I would, anything bigger I'd give a hard pass.

1. Workmanship was not great as bumper was installed poorly with panel gaps bulging out on both sides due to a clip on each sided folded in. When pointed out was met with a oh it came that way already, only when pressed further then offered to dismantle the sides to recheck and rectify.

2. Bumper was installed onto the car then sprayed with MASSIVE amounts of overspray on the exhaust muffler underside.

3. Underside of bumper painted poorly (yes although it underneath and cant be seen, but at least do a complete and proper job).

4. Request for pics of the reinforcement bar behind the bumper to be provided made multiple times to check for damage never received. In the end had to go on their word to say was in ok shape.

So in every service, customers look for the big 3.
1. Fast
2. Cheap
3. Good

In reality only 2 out of 3 can be attained so pick 2

Good and fast ain't cheap
Fast and good ain't cheap
Fast and cheap ain't good

In this case was neither fast nor cheap nor good soooooo........

Aircon has been putting out a smell when 1st starting up the car, smell does eventually go away after a while but was highly irritating. Tried most home remedies like turning the heater on full blast for 5 to 10 mins each week to try and kill the smell in the vents to no avail.

So ordered a bottle of 8 Line for all of $14.35 and DiYed it
(price now gone up to $15.90)

Whilst there changed out the cabin airlifters to the new HENGST Blue that's suppose to filter the PM 2.5 better.

Can't remember how much I paid for it ($80++) from here but. https://www.fixparts-online.com/en/hengst-cabin-filter-e2978lb2.html#

But I think its now available locally at stockist Goldenlink

Located in: Enterprise One
Address: 1 Kaki Bukit Road 1, #01-43 EnterpriseOne, 415934
Phone: 6749 9323

There are 2 Pieces total and on the side there's an arrow which should be pointing towards the interior of the cabin.

Picture of arrow for reference from my old MAHLE filter

Quick review for 8-line

Super easy to use, good for multiple flushes of the evaporator. I didn't use water like the video opting instead to pump the system till the foam was coming out the filter side then closed up the cabin filter housing and turn on the aircon fan only full blast to push the foam through the evaporator and repeated once more for effect.

For now the smell is gone replaced by a lemon scent, lets see how long this lasts.

Quick review for Hengst Blue Cabin Airfilter

Not much to say old cabin filter is only 2 years old and less then 20,000kms used. During its service life it was pulled out and vacuumed then rotated front to back every 6 to 7 months or so when I got bored. Blower airflow seems to be slightly lower now (hardly noticeable) maybe due to the additional layer that filters the 2.5 particles (like breathing through a N95 mask) or because its new.

Aircon is still nice and cold so no real issue there but yep I'd do it again sometime down the road just to keep things fresh.

Left them to deal with the workshop direct, didn't claim anything else other then the bumper since he was upfront nice about it. Lost use of car for 2 days taxi up n down for wife to work and back and drop off car and pickup again.
Genuine accident guy said he'll cover it and was a man of his word. Nice to see people like that still around.

Was it your choice of WS or he suggested it (since he offered to cover the expenses)?
