E60-mods (530i)

Is the E200ML the 1.8L engine? if so, it's quite a good upgrade increase. I suppose 223bhp is at the crank?

if we do the same to our 2.2L, we should get about 230-250bhp i reckon agar agar.

your friend should consider fitting in an intercooler and headers, and also a water spray. could be pushing 250bhp?

since the SC cost the same whether fitted to a 3.0L or a 2.2L, being kiasu singaporeans, it makes more sense to fit it to the big cc engine so that you get the best $/bhp returns.

i'd prefer a ride in your slut airline, but yes, a test drive in a 400bhp e60 will be groovy. :) shall i reserve you a space in club 400 membership?

What club 400 membership? How to apply one ah? RB, you are a very bad boy.... tempting people like that... how can?

yes, it is preferred to put in a piggyback, to integrate the SC into the rest of the electronics of the car. properly tuned it should give you about 20+bhp. headers 20bhp, decat 20bhp.

the ASA SC is TUV approved. this implies that it can work safely with your stock suspension and stock brakes. so you can slowly upgrade these if you wish in the future. it's not a must.

but when you do further little mods to enhance your SC, like what i say in the above, then do consider a BBK mod, in the future. put in a water spray, or even better a water injection system, a 120mm pulley for 8psi boost, and i bet you'll be making 400bhp easy. And 400bhp on a 3L engine is hardly stressing it. You should make 100000km to 120000km on this car easy.

that's ferrari F360 power, with about 1.5 times more torque. total cost is <$20k. imagine this, some ppl already spend 20k on bodykit and bigass rims alone.

do i make a good salesman? your 2nd $1000 note in the piggybank already?

Not sure if you can get 400 hp without a significant engine rework since BMW engines are running relatively high compression. Might be more realistic to get about 320 hp.

400bhp for 3.0L, can lah... we just spoke to a siao kia german guy dealing with ASA. his 3.0L z3 is making 420bhp, can break 300kmh, and is only running on the standard compressor, 0.9bar pulley, headers, decat, piggyback, all the necessary oil coolers. thats all. he's been whacking this engine to the max on a daily basis, and till now it hasnt broken. hahahah

i asked him how long can this engine last with this state of tune. he says till now it's still running. i'll let you know when it breaks... hahahah

very neat installation. BUT WHERE THE HELL DID THE STEERING PUMP GO? the car can only go straight now.

and the siting of the left hand xenon ballast, in front of the strut tower, you think rain water will leak in and short the damn thing?

I am sure that they moved it somewhere else... besides, some of the components in the US spec m3 are located in different locations from our cars. And secondly, it does not rain very much in southern california, so should not worry about shorting... hehe...

So Great White... is yours on the way liao? heheheh But seriously, I don't think it will feel like an M3 anymore... what give the M3 its unique personality is the almost instant throttle response... and since you bring the compression down to 9.0:1, that would be gone... so IMHO think it will drive like any other FI car...

but the bad-power is still there. the improved torque at mid throttle at mid range will more than make up for the throttle response's decline. imo the pros far far outweigh the cons.

now turbo is another question altogether. the characteristic of my bi-turbo is no fun at all.

Bi-turbos are running assymetrically or sequencially? either way, Bi-turbos are supposed to eliminate the lag effect of the single turbo.

Torque will still be there but its already different.... there will still be a lag time before the power engages. And depending on the type of SC, the low end torque will not necessarily be better contrary to popular belief.

When there's a will......there's a way......dun worri....

Anyway I'm getting all the documents for a ASA SK1 kit soon with the help of my friend, I'll try get LTA to pre-approve the kit base on documentations....

How is the LTA approval process going?

Re: E60-mods (530i)

Wah, Toto, after you put in that SC, must take to Sepang man! dynamic drive + active steering + 400hp = awesome!

Come back straight away have to change tyres...hahahahaha!

E60 mods 530i - just SC it!

I'm hoping Totoseow will bite the bullet and install an ASA SC. No point pussyfooting around with headers, ecu remaps, and CAI's - just go straight to 345bhp and 420nm.
