E60-mods (530i)

totoseow, if you can lun a bit, just go for the SC.

all the silly mods we do to our cars can actually buy us a couple of SCs already. but from day 1 we just mod and mod and by the time we want an SC, we have already hit the limit of money we wish to spend modding our cars. case of lan lan.

So, since you are starting on a clean slate, why not be the first brudder here to exercise extreme willpower. Everytime you feel like doing a mod, just pop 1 $1000 note into an E60 shaped piggy bank. When you reach $14k, you should already have decided to fark the engine warrenty and then drive straight to BVO and leave your car there for a week.

Then later drive off with 320bhp under your hood. simple, nice, and saves you money in the long run. good idea?

it's easier for you to do it compared to us 318 320 coz you already have 231bhp out of the box, so this willpower period shouldnt be too hard to pass.

fark those pullies, air intake, ecotek, spark plugs, capsules, coz they all have to be demodded when the SC goes in. And no need to go and buy simi bodykit or fierce rims, save all these money coz E60 already look fierce enough out of the box, plus you'll have a real sleeper in your hands. no trouble with inspection coz 5 series wont be targetted by TP one.

save some money to do a possible power upgrade when you get tired of 320bhp, aim for 370, 380bhp, and then chiet those aging e46 m3s and make them cry. good idea? you can seriously consider you know.

as a sincere gesture of pure friendship, i'll volunteer to keep those $1000 notes for you till you are ready. I will encourage you to tide through this terrible period of non-mods also.

very impressive n persuasive...i admit i m almost suayed to do SC...

Seriously, what RB has said is very true. If you really want to do something 'proper', just tahan, save 1k bills and nike when the time is right.

Unless you are the sort that likes to savour every incremental mod that you do. Then slowly mod, mod, mod until 1 day you look back and realise...

Wah Lau! Spent a bomb :errr:

as for answering wifey's interrogation, just remember that after the SC install, if you do drive your car within the original 231bhp limit, you're actually saving significant fuel, as what the SC does is to make your engine much more efficient so fuel consumption by theory goes down a lot.

so, is your first thousand dollar bill in the piggy already?

question...after SC..n u put obit...does it add more power, torque?
or is it u can hv one bu not the other?

yes, it is preferred to put in a piggyback, to integrate the SC into the rest of the electronics of the car. properly tuned it should give you about 20+bhp. headers 20bhp, decat 20bhp.

the ASA SC is TUV approved. this implies that it can work safely with your stock suspension and stock brakes. so you can slowly upgrade these if you wish in the future. it's not a must.

but when you do further little mods to enhance your SC, like what i say in the above, then do consider a BBK mod, in the future. put in a water spray, or even better a water injection system, a 120mm pulley for 8psi boost, and i bet you'll be making 400bhp easy. And 400bhp on a 3L engine is hardly stressing it. You should make 100000km to 120000km on this car easy.

that's ferrari F360 power, with about 1.5 times more torque. total cost is <$20k. imagine this, some ppl already spend 20k on bodykit and bigass rims alone.

do i make a good salesman? your 2nd $1000 note in the piggybank already?

Very good advice from Shawn - the snootiest club 400 member in Singapore. Snooty but smart.

I think the operative keyword here is "tahan", as in "can you or can you not"? There is wisdom in RB's suggestion, no doubt, but seeing it through is tough man..

Unless you already have the cash NOW, then it's a different story lah. Slowly put into a piggybank? Let's be honest with ourselves guys..

That's why I said this "strain" of mod virus is lethal.. cos the more usual strain acts frequently but less lethal, compared to this strain that lies dormant for a long time then suddenly strike and strike BIG!

i'd prefer a ride in your slut airline, but yes, a test drive in a 400bhp e60 will be groovy. :) shall i reserve you a space in club 400 membership?

Sorry for sounding stupid but how do u expect to pass the LTA inspection in a couple of years time with the SC under your bonnet?

When there's a will......there's a way......dun worri....

Anyway I'm getting all the documents for a ASA SK1 kit soon & with the help of my friend, I'll try & get LTA to pre-approve the kit base on documentations....

So what's the power output that is projected after the mods like pulleys etc (not SC), a friend of mine did he following to his E200ML (163bhp)

Exhaust (brabus)
Pulley (Carlson)
Airfilter
at this point 223bhp with dyno

Will be doing
ECU remap (est 20% increase)
Supercharger upgrade in futrure

So does E39/E60 produce similar results?

cheers

Just my guess.. I think the "pulleys" above cannot be compared to the pulleys that we install for our 6-pot engines. Looking at the power gain for the E200, most likely those are supercharger pulleys that achieve the effect of increasing the boost, whereas those for us are underdrive pulleys.
