matrix (or is it neo?), don't have to set aside so much... $3k is more than enough.

there are some things that have to be changed (preventive maintenance) like oils and such.

and there are some things that need replacing only when they conk out, like the aircon compressor, window motor, etc.

the most important thing is to get a car that is well taken care of, not necessarily low mileage.

low mileage might mean the things that might give way will not have, yet. so it means that you will pay a premium for the low mileage, and have to pay more to replace the parts later.

get a facelifted one definitely - more power, and higher resale.

but also get one that that has all the necessary parts changed - minimum the expansion tank and radiator hoses.

and also look for one that is genuinely well taken care of by a car lover - frequent change of oils, frequent servicing, etc.

good point...note taken...xie xie :)

one more thing...

not being sexist or anything, but do a check if you find a low mileage car, esp if it's a lady owner, expat, seldom drive, frequent traveller, 2nd car, etc. etc. (and esp lady owner).

women, in general, do not know when to send the car in for servicing, esp when the recommended servicing interval from PML is 25,000km. the most they do is top up petrol, send to carwash, and wait till something breaks down... (flame me, but show me evidence otherwise, kekeke...)

so you'll get a double whammy if you get this type of resale car - high cost, more things breaking down in the near future...

:X no comments but will take note....seen dealers always post 'careful lady driver', 'expat leaving singapore' etc...but nvr knew the underlying issues...Im enlightened...ommmmmmmmm....
