Change to another set of coilovers or go back to stock?

Re: Change to another set of coilovers or go back to stock?

Your shocks are new - that made it even higher.

But are you sure those are 335i springs ?

Is it a D7/D5 spring set ?

I got the workshop to source the springs for me. I was told they're a used set from a 335. I won't be able to tell honestly nor do I have any idea whether they are D7 or D5 (or what these terms mean).

I wasn't aware that new shocks would make the ride higher - didn't notice this when I changed shocks in my previous E46.

Used 335 springs no wonder la. So want cheaper also gives u more gap.

Actually u shd try kw street comfort instead. I believe only lower 10mm or more and adjustable damper.

Some of the guys who retained their old springs and changed out their worn shocks for new ones - seemed to have a taller ride after ..... Just an observation.

D7 D5 etc are the type of springs ..... Some are shorter than others (sports versus stock etc) - sports springs are shorter.

See the labels ....

Was considering a new set of coilovers but decided to go back to stock. Being coilovers, the KW2s will still be harsher and I'm willing to trade the sharper handling for more comfort. On balance, I think stock meets my needs better.

I mean kw street comfort not kw v2 leh.

Anyway it is on hindsight unless u willing to spend again.

Re: Change to another set of coilovers or go back to stock?

End of the day KW v2 / kw street comfort Ohlin R & Track / V3 / Tein / Bilstein etc ...

Are u sure it is not comfortable ?

What make you think so ?

Tried V3 and on Ohlin setup ... Never is it discomfort or harsh ...

There is setting for you to set up ...

If budget and lazy to adjust or do up suspension set up then stock is the easy way ...

Then why a second hand 335 springs ? Workshop dunno what to do a proper recommendation ? Take back the spring and provide a spring that suit threadstarter budget, height and comfort man!

The spring perch is longer/taller. IE, the top spring perch have to travel more in order to compress the spring within the strut assembly to the same amount as compared to the original spring perch, hence lowering the ride height. That is the upper spring perch you are looking at btw.

PS: apologies. edited after realising that is the top spring perch.

Thanks for the info, bro.

Wonder any local workshop carries those aftermarket spring perch.....

It does not look normal to me actually. Dont own an E90, but would be pretty sure 335 front springs are stiffer compared to 328 and below. What is your model? Using 335 springs on lower model E90 will definitely raise the car at the front as 355 has the heavier powertrain at the front. Generally, a stock ride height should have your wheel concentric to the wheel arch to maintain the styling. Your current height looks very high with a hideous wheel gap.....

I agree with unsuitable springs used on the wrong ride.

Ever told by Rod that even 320 & 325 spring rate will be different, not to mentioned with a 335 (3L twin turbos.....)
