Anyone tried Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT tyres?

Anyone tried Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT tyres before? It is supposed to be Dunlop's answer to Goodyear's F1 Asymmetric and I have seen some good reviews of the Sport Maxx TT. See for example:

2010 European Summer Tyre Test - tyre reviews, the online tyre guide

2010 Auto Bild Ultra High Performance Tyre Test - tyre reviews, the online tyre guide

For my tyre size of 225/45/R17, I got the following prices from Tyrepac:

Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT: S$188 per tyre
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetic: S$236 per tyre
Michelin Pilot Sport 3: S$265 per tyre

So the Dunlop Sport Maxx TT has quite attractive pricing if it is any good. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has tried this tyre before.

Thanks bro. I could not reconcile the good wet performance of the Sport Maxx in the tirerack review you posted with the poor wet performance in one of the two reviews I posted until I realized that there are two Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres: the Sport Maxx GT and the Sport Maxx TT. It was the Sport Maxx GT which had the poor wet performance in one of the reviews I posted whereas it was the Sport Maxx TT that had good dry and wet good performance in the other review. The following two reviews on the Sport Maxx TT are therefore consistent with the tirerack review you posted:

2010 European Summer Tyre Test - tyre reviews, the online tyre guide

2010 Autocar Tyre Test RWD - tyre reviews, the online tyre guide

Thanks also to sszone for your feedback. You did not say which Sport Maxx you had used but I assume it is the TT since the GT does not seem to be available in Singapore.

My Potenza RE 050A run flats are due for a change soon. Given the attractive pricing and the good reviews of the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT, I think I will give it a try.

Yes, I have seen the tyre and it is marked on the sidewall as Sport Maxx TT.

Re: Anyone tried Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT tyres?

is it possible that its only sport maxx without TT or GT?

Yes I think so. If you look at the following link in tirerack:

Dunlop Tires Available at Tire Rack

they list the following tyres from Dunlop under Max Performance Summer tires:

SP Sport Maxx
SP Sport Maxx 101
SP Sport Maxx A
SP Sport Maxx A1
SP Sport Maxx DSST RunOnFlat
SP Sport Maxx GT
SP Sport Maxx GT DSST
SP Sport Maxx TT

The Sport Maxx TT and GT were introduced only in mid-2009 so if you bought your tyres before then, they are unlikely to be the TT or GT and are probably the older model which is just Sport Maxx.

just bought it from hurry last few weeks

From the information I can get on the internet, the Sport Maxx is a 2005 model. Apparently it is still being sold here. The tyrepac.com website lists it at $265 per tyre while it lists the Sport Maxx TT at $188 per tyre (both for my tyre size of 225/45/17). Wonder why they would sell an older model for more. But then again, tyrepac.com lists the Michelin PS2 at $332.88 per tyre and the PS3 at $265 per tyre (again for my tyre size). Weird!

got the 18" from hurry
$250

Fredrick

From the tyrepac.com website, the Sport Maxx TT is not available for your tyre size of 18". That could be why Hurry sold you the Sport Maxx instead. Tyrepac's price for the 18" Sport Maxx is $242 per piece, which is consistent with what you paid at Hurry.

Great. I have just put in an order for 4 pieces of Sport Maxx TT tyres from tyrepac.com, fitting tomorrow morning. Will share my impressions of these tyres after a few weeks.

Abengdriver, pm me if you want a taxi ride!
