Quite frankly, the thing that pissed me about BMW is almost everything come as options. My side mirrors cannot fold but if I pay, yes. Now the headlights, I am the least surprised.

bro, thats the business model the company at large is running. in countries such as the UK and US, the cars are just bear bones. no sports seats, manual transmission, no cruise control and stereo is non bmw professional (cant play mp3's). u spec the car up and pay for what u place in your shopping basket.

in the older BMWs with xenons, the outer lamp acts as the low beam. the inner lamp, usually halogen, acts as the high beam. In the newer BMWs with bi-xenons, the outer lamp functions as both hi and lo beams. the inner lamp functions when u have the adaptive headlight option.

My e60 without adaptive HL also has a dummy inner lamp,

If ur inner lamp is dummy, which lamp is the hi beam? Based on my i know, xenon has only 1 output level.

Most E60 does not have adaptive headlight except mayb 530.

both hi and low beams are from outer lamps. See wiki link below. they can explain it better than me.

when i bot my 320 early 2006, i recall that 523 also came with adaptive HLs. But my memory could be wrong...

Edit : been up last nite trying to remember. I think i was wrong. 523 then didn't come with adaptive headlights...i think

PML was selling a batch of 525s last year (from Japan) that came with adaptive headlights, I believe.

yup. My 525 Highline is with aaptive headlights. It works only when the headlights are switched to Auto mode. No big deal about Adaptive Headlight. It would be more useful in locations like Malaysia where roads are without lighting.

hear 523 pi spec is about the same, just pi no comfort access, automatic tailgate, no bluetooth .
523 hl is no navigation sustem, no park assistant, no comfort access, automatic tailgate, no bluetooth. but pi 523 hl got those dvd changer 6 dvd and sunroof.

i was reading 5post on bimmerpost.com and they say until like the f10 must always be ordered with a few shiok things:

Adaptive Drive, Dynamic Damping Control, Integral Active Steering. How much are these nonsense and are they worth it.

I was looking for an option item like Launch Take Off or KERS but too bad they dont have it.

528i is 3 liter while 523HL is only 2.5 liter..... + some additional specs.

PI's 523 is also 3L right,,, so same engine as 528
but 523 HL to 528 great diff in price, even more than the diff between 528 and 535
if i'm correct, 535 have a lot more standard spec than 528

They have both.

PI has 523 with 2.5l from Germany, and 523 with 3.0l from UK
