May not be wise to commit heavily on an asset that has been inflated in the recent years. You even used an unrealistic 2 years time frame. Will be wiser if you can contact a more matture friend for an opinion. (Sorry, my assuption about your youthfulness is based on your statement that both you and your wife "will be working" in a year or so.
Exercise extreme caution even if the banks can grant you a loan.
