Must as well try your luck, disrespect the seller and put a 99-cent bid. You can always justify yourself by saying "nothing wrong wat !!!"......

Personally I feel that offering S$350 is an insult. If I'm the owner., I wouldnt let go at anything below S$2,000, even though its a lucky draw prize.

Hey hey, Thanks javiero for the comment.

Hi all, please make your offer if you are keen. Will consider any reasonable offers. Thanks.

Re: WTS Mercedes Benz Bike

Hi peterpan, ryan's recommendation for togpparts.com is great. Most local riders are there. But be very mindful should you decide to post your mobilephone number there: (1)You will get a very high volume of calls (2) You will definitely get loads of offer to buy parts of your bike, and last but not least, (3)you'll get loads of queries from kids like nick!!!... no offense nick. I manage to sell almost all my bike parts there, but not without hard work and tonnes of SMS.

PS: toto, I ride but only leisurely, probaby cannot catch up with you...

Hi mobilefriend, no worries about mobilephone calls. More calls means more chance of selling away the bike.....thanks.

Re: WTS Mercedes Benz Bike

Hi Peterpan (BTW, thats the name of a really HOT band in Indonesia!),

I'm an avid mountain-biker and have been doing so for the last 15 yrs on/off. Firstly, would like to congratulate you for winning the bike. Whatever happens then is really not much of a loss at worst since you won it and did not buy it…. Several issues though you should consider in my most honest humble opinion… I really do not want to burst your bubble bro…..

1) It is a nice bike….to some. Honestly, most mountain bikers would not buy that for a few reasons
a) Mercedes Benz do not make MTB and hence the frame is probably made
another company for MB who subsequently pasted their name there. Likelihood is that it’s made in Taiwan like most other frames. These Taiwanese made frames, even though they have brands that are known to produce high end MTB frames are often seen to be inferior in quality.

b) Given the fact above, they will not pay that kind of price for it
c) Design looks dated.
d) Sorry, those are not XT parts let alone XT Groupset. The XT brake levers are
full silver, cranks are with Hollowtech 2 technology without bottom bracket
and hydraulic disc calipers are silver and much smaller. At the very most that
looks like an entry level Deore groupset. Rim skewers are standards Shimano.
Rims are ??? RST front shocks are entry level Taiwanese made mixed
elastomer shocks. You’re getting my drift bro……

2) For that fact, I think you’re left with 3 options…
a) Sell the bike as a whole
b) Strip the parts and sell it off
c) Keep the bike …. Everybody needs some exercise and yes… you’re welcome
to join me on the trails anytime bro!

3) I would try option a) first and sell the bike to an enthusiast and the only way is to
a) Consign it to the MB showroom. New one at Alexandra looks awesome!
b) Advertise in MB forums…. Both locally as well as overseas. (my experience is
that foreigners esp angmoh put more artistic value to things rather than being
100% practical)

4) Option b) if you failed the first option is to strip and sell at www.togoparts.com
Only problem with this option is that ..
a)You should only put email address and not your hp
b)You should try a mini auction ie put a base,rock-bottom price that you’ll accept first as lots of these people (like most Singaporeans) are very spineless, gutless, (and in this case faceless) , thick-skinned cheapos! “Err… I heard you selling your RST fork ah? $20 can or not?” To which my usual reply would be “Why are you asking me whether I’m selling? Claim charity and ask for me give you for free lah! KNN!” …. So you really got to tolerate this kinda shit!

5) But then again, you can always chose Option c) and we all can take our bikes ; be it Merz, BMW , Shimano, or whatever shit and hit the trails together and have lotsa fun! So lemme take this opportunity to see who is interested in hitting the trails soon…

P/S: what Arsony mentioned is true, my record on togoparts.com is 20 SMS from the same guy bargaining a $20 part ... that's why I want to warn you about phones...

Hi Arsony, thanks for the frank assessment and suggestions. I would prefer to sell the bike as a whole and get back some money.

Am trying to consign the bike to some bicycle shops with the help of fellow forumer, totoseow. Putting it at MB Showroom for sale is a "no no", as I won it in their event as a special guest. If you do come across any interest party do let me know. I understand the issue about the bike positioning and built that it will not appeal to true bikers like yourself. However, in view of the built and quality of the parts, I think it will still fetch a decent price.

Thanks again!

Re: WTS Mercedes Benz Bike

OT, but what happened toto!!!!!

Re: WTS Mercedes Benz Bike

drafting along jln buroh at 42kmh...the front rider free wheel, lost speed n swiped my front wheel. i slammed onto the tarmac, the rider behind me ran over my ribs and fell, the 3rd rider behind which was a gal smashed into the both of us n crashed. bad pile up.

3 of us lay there knocked out for 20 mins....ambulance took us to NUH.

i have a torn shoulder muscle, hairline crack rib, lacerations on fingers knees, elbows.
2nd rider torn chin, multiple abrasion n road burns...twisted elbow.
3rd female rider had bumped on head, concussion...but came out better than us.

i need about another week i think.

Re: WTS Mercedes Benz Bike

OOUCH!!!! Painful... Speedy recovery!

Re: WTS Mercedes Benz Bike

Youch!

I know how it feels man. Broke 2 ribs in an MTB accident before.

Going downhill on a long, slippery (loose sand on top) and very steep slope. So long and steep that you cannot see the bottom. Speedo reading 85kmh near the bottom when suddenly, I saw my friend lying on the ground with his bike.

Grabbing brakes at 85kmh down a slippery hill is a non-option. It was a X-country bike with light and skinny tyres. Decided to try and hop over him. Didn't even have time to shout at him.

Hopped. Clipped him with my crank on his helmet. The helmet broke and he got a nasty cut on his forehead. As for me, I lost control after landing. It was a big blur as to what actually happened.

But the aftermath is:
1) both wheels bent like potato chips
2) broken seatpost (titanium)
3) broken handlebar (carbon fibre)
4) broken ribs

Ain't funny. Got a road bike after that, haha.

Rest of the bike (titanium) was ok. I've had this bike for 14 years now, and it's still going strong.
