WTB: Advice for E39

New Member
Hi everyone,

I m new here, seeking advice for getting E39 from a friend  .

Registration date: Feb 2003
COE: $33.6k
OMV: $45.5k
Rebate as at Jan 07: $61k
Mileage: 110k
Maintanance: 100% PML
Condition: Stock, well maintain and accident free
Asking: paper + body which is around $68.5K

My main concern is fuel consumption, servicing and maintenance. My ave monthly mileage is abt 3k.

Is E39 reliable, any problematic history?

Also if i decide to sell 2 to 3 years later, can it be easily done without severe loss? And what kind of indicative price for the body by then?

Many thanks in advance :) .

Re: WTB: Advice for E39

used to drive one of these.. one of the best made 5 series IMHO. if you're buying it at paper plus body, it's a very good bargain.

Re: WTB: Advice for E39

Hi Gnem,

Agree with Nitrox. If you can get it at paper plus body, it is a good buy. Used to drive one too. 2001 car. Silky smooth. Still brings back good memories. Good luck.

Cheers

Re: WTB: Advice for E39

I have a 2003 E39 as well, and am averaging 7-8km/l, which i think is not bad for a 2.2l car.

As the car that you'll be buying is turning 5 years old, do expect things to break down and need to be replaced every now and then. The car is under the old parf system with 65% rebate at 10yrs, which means that your annual depreciation should be about 8k, which is really value for money for a 520. A 5 yrs old 318 has about the same dep as well!

Hope the above info helps... good luck!

Re: WTB: Advice for E39

Price: It's a steal with no consideration to the color type
Maint: Pump in one time replacement of $5k or less and most major parts can be had and that can bring you to another 50 to 100km mileage.
Fuel consumption 7 to 9 Ltr, not too bad for "old" engine, considering it's weight
This shd be an EXE model.

My advise is sell near scrap or at scrap.

Re: WTB: Advice for E39
