Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

I had gotten a quote of 700+ which is part of the promotion where they fix one of your window for trial. Like the one you had.

BTW, my interior is terrecotta.

Bro Kenn, thanks for the pics and efforts, appreciate indeed. from your pics above, it looks quite dark from some angle. however from this pics posted on your MODS diary its less darker, cos can see the door pillar and rear red leather clearly.

nevertheless, these does help me decide on the choice if I going for Vkool. thanks again.

i think your car will look darker even if we got the same film. I was thinking these combination

X75 for the front windscreen
J83 for the front 2 door
VK70 for the rear 2 door
VK40 for the rear windscreen - so from the rear i looks darker I hope.

Does anyone does this before? will it look wired?

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

This shot was more or less an "indoor" shot, since the car was sheltered. The K70 is very reflective in the light......hence it appeared darker. And it is within legal limits, mind you.......

i swear by vkool and have use it for my past 3 rides. just a caution tho, the normal J83 films for the front cant make it cos u will feel the sun's scorching heat when driving. i did a mix and match used the premier standard for the front+side and mirage for the rear+side. the result is satisfying, with the front at 63% light transmission; i.e. slightly less than compliant

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

U can actually see the difference between the 70% front side window and the 25% rear side window. :)

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

My ody had window film and it increased the lockon time of my GPS from 20 seconds to like 10 minutes. I had it removed. Now happy.

thanks gadgets. mind share with us your premier standard for the front+side and mirage for the rear+side, with some details of the film spec.

mind you, according to Halim from SIM MING. X75 will install on the front instead of the J83. J83 will be on the on the 2 front door only.

wah piang... so long? what film brand is that, mind share it with us? so i reckon u won't put anymore of wahtsortever film to your new ride...

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

It was Lumina at first. Then because of GPS problems, I scrapped it change to Vkool. Then still problem, I scrapped it totally. Then for the rears, my wife FORCED me to scrap all the rear tints totally also because of Malaysia issues.

I don't experience any hotter or colder. Hotter put the aircon colder lah. I don't even wear sunglasses anymore because my hero Vic Elford say that he don't wear anymore. And I found that, unless travelling at 5pm to the city via ECP, I don't miss them very very much. For all distances, whether 400km or 4km, no more things which screw around with my eyes.

I'm happier now. For my new car, my GPS is locking on in 10 seconds and I'm happy like bird. No need any more film, thanks.

Anyway did you know that most lux cars already have film? For some of the Saint Germain Sekurit or something, they even impregnate the metallic inside already.

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

From my experience, 3M gives the best compliance with it being darker than the competition.

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

The most important consideration to me about all these products is not light penetration. Damn I can wear my Giorgio Ahbengmarni sunglasses n get the dark view when driving. What u need is good heat reflection property. U dont want to park under sun n come back 20mins later with yr steering burning yr hands.

Next most important consideration to me is UV reflection, so yr dashboard n wonderful airfresher dont fade in colour.

just my 2 dingdong sens.

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

like i said earlier,
if u going for LTA compliance, the front 3 pieces of windows max heat rejection is 75% to 80% only regardless of what brand.

if heat rejection is impt, go dark!

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

It seems that there is a perception that darker tint means better heat rejection. I am not so sure about this notion. Can anyone guru here explain?

Reason I am saying that is because I have sat in cars with ultra-dark tint, but the heat insulation is poor compare to cars with lighter tint but somewhat better reflective abilities.......
