Re: Will BMW's ever introduce Optitron Gauges?
For myself, my Wife and I had tried and tested, looked and relooked at the following 3 cars recently.
1) Mercedes New C-Class
2) Lexus IS250
3) BMW 320i
Both Merc and the Lexus had excellent looking Instrument CLusters, especially so in the Lexus. I was so mesmerised by the instrument cluster that I almost, and I really mean almost booked the Lexus right on the spot. Nice creamy engine, powerful V6, really good looking instrument clusters and littered all over with gadgets here and there. The merc was much more straightforward but I found it abit too old for me, Im only 26 and I seriously find the C-Class although an entirely new fresh design, it was still a tad "old" looking.
Now comes the exciting part. I went back to Performance, took a seat in the Monetgo Blue 320i which is currently on display and I was instantly disappointed in the interior and especially the instrument cluster. I requested for another test drive, drove the car out, within mins, I fell in love with the car again despite it being a rather not so smooth 4 potter and only having 150 german horses pulling it. But I still love it. The drive was very good, handling, feel, brakes, steering, etc was exactly just what I wanted. Within the 20mins drive, I began to slowly appreciate the simplicity of the simple and straightforward interior as well as the instrument cluster. BMW's instrument cluster gets more and more beautiful the more u look at it. Meaning you don tire of it easily.
I'm currently driving a Civic FD 2.0, which has the space age interior and instrument cluster, such fancy instrument clusters can only capture your attention only for that short while only, after awhile you get tired of it. Now I fully understand the Phrase, Simplicity is Beauty.
Currently I can only afford an entry level 320i but I still love the ride and I hope you guys don't mind the long post. I was just sharing my inner most tots and how I made my decision to go for this bimmer which I am still eagerly awaiting to take delivery next week. Hope to meet up with the rest of the bros and admire their souped up Bimmers!
