Murphy - is your engine RPM stable or fluctuating? My e90 idle RPM started fluctuating after 4-5 months and that cause the staeering wheel to vibrate a little. Been to PML a couple of times but still they can't find the problem. Hope you have better luck with your car.

hi. not sure if my case is same as yours. but when i got my e65 with n52 engine, i cant seems to get used to the vibration on the steering wheel. i suspected engine mounting, misfiring, wheel alignment, control shaft were damaged.
i was then told by PML, outside workshops, and many bmw brudders here that it is normal for valuetronic to vibrate with a humming feeling on the steering during N, P and D position while not moving off.
the important thing is engine will NOT vibrate during regular driving. nevertheless, i got one workshop to bring up idle RPM by 50 RPM to reduce the irritating vibrating steering wheel.
since then, got used to the feeling and no more paranoid anymore.

Not sure if u re talking abt same vibration, but I ve also sensed some vibration initially in the 1st month of my car. Guessed in could be due to not having been run in properly yet. Now I dont feel those vibrations anymore.
The only vibrations on my steering wheel now is due to my hands when I tap on the steering while I listen to my favourite song by Black-Eye-Peas ...kekeke

The 4cyl valvetronic engine will always have some form of vibration. This is more noticeable at idling when the engine uses the flywheel to turn the engine over at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions (TDC and BDC). Usually after running in, these vibrations will become lesser as the engine frees up. (piston rings and bearing seat). The important thing is that revs are not hunting (going up and down +- 100-200rpm while idling in P, D or N.
IMO, There is nothing wrong with you engine. If you like, the idle revs can be increased by 50-100rpm to eliminate the vibrations. Or alternatively, use mineral oil in your engine for the initial 5000km to increase the initial wear rate and then switch to synthethic oils and add in friction reducing additives.
