Hi

To Bro that have gone to fix the "Jerk before stop" issue.

Can PM me the workshop u went to and the price for the service?

Can post here what is the item need to change?

I read that it need to change the solenoid, filter, gear oil. Is that all? And cost about 1.8k to 2k to do it in sg workshop? This is not consider a full or a gearbox overhaul right?

Thank you.

Rod from R2D would be your man. He's easily one of the most knowledgeable guys out there who bothers to make an effort to explain to you the mechanics and do a proper diagnostic of your car.

There's also other site sponsors like BVO or BOSS..
for gearbox jerk before stop, generally not a big problem. most of them can get it fixed easily.
end of the day depends on what kind of service u want.
if u want someone diligently checking and explaining things to u, go to Dr ROD. Else just chuck it to BVO or BOSS and collect ur car later, although u wont be learning much about ur car.. price wise they're around the same, BVO slightly pricier i believe.

and yes the cost is 1.8k - 2.1k range which includes all parts and labors.. thats for solenoid change with oil pan and atf.
parts from stockists cost about 1k- for
1. 2x engine mounting
2. 1x gearbox mounting
3. 1x gearbox repair kit(solenoid)
4. atf (7L)
5. 1x oil pan

hope this helps. cheers

I have recently changed the rear boot damper, OEM cost $28/ea. before GST and Original cost $45 before GST from ES.

as long as OEM one works the same as original (same extension length) should be ok.

my FIL's previous BMW was involved in an accident and the bonnet dampers were changed by the workshop. After the car was collected, he was wondering how come the bonnet is no longer able to lift as high as before the accident. I was curious about situation and examined the bonnet dampers carefully. the answer was revealed when the word "VOLVO" was printed on the bonner dampers that were replaced. :shakehea:

Honestly, I felt no difference in OEM or Original for the boot damper. Save some money for your other mod. :)

Ok. Ya. this car have lots of problem when old.

Check. If have the jerk b4 stop issue. Will this make the gear change a bit jerky at some point like fr 2 to 3 or 3 to 4 gear? I feel a bit of jerk at times.

Will one time solve this will last for another 3.5year before the car 10 years is up.

Re: Which workshop to fix the "Jerk before stop" issue? And What is the item to chang

Very common problem in e90, e60 etc

Need to change either or both of solenoids, plus valvebody. Should be good for the next 100k after change, longer if ATF is changed regularly.
