Hi 1 series owners (other series too),

If you are staying with RFTs, which would you recommend (reasons inclusive, maybe) from the list of tyres below.

Note:
(1) Tyres below Max Performance are not included. Other brands not listed because I avoid those brand in totality, just personal preference.
(2) Please don't bash RFT since its widely known that many advise ditching RFT and switch to conventional tyres. Lets be focused here as there are owners who stays with RFT for safety or convenience. Furthermore RFT are now 3rd Gen, no longer 1st Gen which is real crappy.

I dunno about the rest, but the RFT tyres that I tried on before is the Potenza S001...
It is quiet, but quite bouncy... road grip wise is also not as good as conventional tires...

Yups, it's granted and factual (even the 3rd Gen RFT) thus cannot compare to conventional tyres within the same league. Run Flats still suffice for daily road use while tracking is an entirely different issue. Also in 2012, there's still exist alot of RFT trashing :lol2:

Staying with Run Flats, my choice would be (till new ones come online):
1 - Michelin PS2 ZR
2 - Bridgestone RE050A RFT
3 - Pirelli P-Zero Run Flat (not Pirelli P-Zero Nero Run Flat)

Re: Which RFT, SSR, ZP, EMT, DSST or EUFORIA

I have only used these two before:-
The Bridgestone RE050 RFT and the Dunlop MAXX GT DSST ..... I prefer the latter cause it seems to handle better. In term of noise and comfort, they seem quite the same.

Re: Which RFT, SSR, ZP, EMT, DSST or EUFORIA

I will go for Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFT

Dunlop sport maxx are good, but get noisy after 15,000km....

Pirelli P zeros are great... But get noisy as the miles pile up.

Continentals dun have great wet weather traction imho

Michelin pilot super sports ftw if you have the budget... Better than ps2, ps3....

Hmm .... reaching the wear out marker soon.

Any recommendations on where to get the best price deal for RFTs?

Thnx.

P-Zeros are really noisy man...I'm on it only 1000 km...my previous Good Year F1 Assym 2 is much quieter ...but P-Zeros performance is good..:juggle:

Re: Which RFT, SSR, ZP, EMT, DSST or EUFORIA

I have gone through 2 sets of Dunlop Sports MAXX GT DSST on the F10. No complains. They are quiet, comfy and handle well. Each set lasts about 25000km. Did not need to rotate or balance throughout the usage..... no vibrations at any speed. Never had to rotate or balance tyres midlife on BMWs ...... wonder if its the car or the rims or the RFTs?

The other nice thing about RFTs are the stiff sides. No crooked rims even after hitting pot holes in Msia. All my previous cars ended with crooked rims that needed to be replaced if one deosn't like the shakes.. The cost of replacing the rim already outweighs the costs of the RFTs vs non RFTs.

So for me ..... I would still go for run flats.

Anyone knows any shop that has good pricing for RFTs? PML tyre prices way way high I think. Have not checked recently though.

Or...... if anyone is collecting their new car and wants to get rid of the stock RFTs. Please PM me!
I am looking for 245/45R18. Dunlop and CSC preferred. Thnx.
