Hi everyone,

Which is a better choice: BlackVue DR500GW-HD or BMW Advanced Eye?

Regards.

Hi,
I am using BV 550 for almost 2 years now. No prob under our sunny sky (parked). But you have to live with the warning sign each time you start your ride (when parked longer than say 5 hours). It will says - battery draining while vehicle is stationary, something like that despite having install the power magic as an addition. (unless any folks here has it solved, please share can? :))I like the physical outlook being slimmer and less obvious comparing with the BMW advance eyes. Both prices are not cheap though.

According to MA, the advance eye system do not record when you switch off your ride. Therefore, the battery draining warning will not show up. BV will still record for a couple of hours until your ride 'kills it' when it sensed the drop in battery power. thus the warning sign (but rest assure, the power required to start your F10 is enough).

My 2 cents comment. Cheers!

think there are some bros here said its a matter of connecting to the right point, can be solved but i am too lazy to send to rewired so i have lived with the warning sign

I have installed the bv dr550 with Lukas battery pack and last for 5-6 hours without warning sign.

Sure? So far after asking around no one can solve this "high batt drain" issue via right connection point. Can share where you saw this thread?

Hi there, just here to share our experience on this matter.

We have installed many different brands & models of DVR for BMW over the years.

It is not a problem of DVR that will and will not cause the 'High Current discharge' notification that many of is are getting. This is due to the Intelligent Battery Sensor that BMW has in the electronics charging system. It is a safety prompt. As long the sensor detects that there is a power leak/loss when the engine is not started, or when vehicle is in a rest mode, it will send this warning to alert the owner during the next start.

For those who want to run the DVR in park/surveillance mode and want to avoid seeing this message, installing a standalone battery pack for powering the DVR will be the only solution. There is no other solution.

Maybe disable the IBS system

Hope I cleared some clouds here

Your professional feedback is very useful to us. Thank you very much for spending the time to explain this issue to us! :wavey:

Re: Which car camera is a better choice?

IMHO - I think get a battery pack or don't enable 24 hour monitoring is a probably the way to go. Reading the fuse map and checking for current violation can be quite tedious.

Disabling the IBS will affect the charging of the car battery ...... A bunch of options depends on the IBS.

Re: Which car camera is a better choice?

The best vehicle camera is Master View.

2 reasons why the best - (i) Used by F1 Team Redbull, picture below (ii) provides 360 degree coverage. :OTpolis: :OTpolis:
