Maybe it's just me but the wire looks obvious enough, and may risk deny entry into certain locations.

Yeah prolly need to retro fit something to look like OEM accessories to bypass the security then

You can always take it out. This is what I do when I kenna ICT lor.

Re: where to install Car camera

I hope your friend is not ripping our forumers off. I understand he is providing a service and also his personal warranty. As you understand, I bought this item from the manufacturing country and did the work of flashing the firmware myself, it is not a difficult task afterall. If he is charging too much, it wouldn't be too appropriate, ya?

I must say the BlackVue DR400G-HD unit is a good unit. Super clear for night and day time.

A word of advise. In order for him to differentiate his business with others, he should provide installation so that he can beat others who is doing the same product.

just my 2 cents worth.

Bro, price abit sensitive to reveal here, but I can tell you right now it's at least $100 cheaper than local distri price. What I told him to do is to always keep 1 extra set for 1-1 exchange warranty and he has agreed, and hence you are in some sense getting "local" warranty for a PI set. He will also flash the firmware for you to English. So all in all I think it's a pretty well rounded service he is providing. The only thing he does not do is installation but you can find your own workshop / site sponsors to do it.

AFAIK, most of my friends self-install. Only one go and ask workshop to wire. If you ask me, I trust myself more than a workshop worker... so you be the judge.

I don't need 24/7 although I wired my parent's Merc into the fusebox... I don't think it's *really* necessary unless you always ken a vandalism. The camera does get pretty hot although it still works. I will not recommend if you park your car under the sun most of the time to have this running 24/7... anything processing HD video of this miniature size will overheat.

The magic box thing is just a low voltage cutoff to prevent power drainage. I think it's not a waste of money if you want 24/7, but like I said, I think 24/7 is not necessary.

Re: where to install Car camera

Installation need space, tools, experience and carry with it risks, so he decided not to do it. He's operating out of his own bedroom :p

BTW, the new firmware is harder to flash. ;) Old ones just need to download the English one and reflash. New ones you can't do that anymore.

Erm... which is the new one firmware you are referring to? I am also using the same unit as yours. Which firmware are you on?

Did they tap directly to battery or fuse box? Is it on 24 hrs?

You can get the magic box if you buy blackvue. You can get it from the authorise dealer or online.

If you use the magic box, it should be fine unless you direct connec to the battery.

Re: where to install Car camera

Even with power magic, also have the warning sign. Experience that daily.

the drainage is a common issue, I got it after a day of parking @ home, the battery saver cant prevent the error message as any drain before 72 days aint its business hehehhee

once u hard-wire ur cam, u will get the error message unless ur ride is constantly being used.

if u dun hard-wire it, there's not much valet-mode to be used as the batt would have drained out by then.

Re: where to install Car camera

Tortoise and Pretender, thanks for your sharing your experience!
I thot it would be okay to use Magic Box to prevent error code or warning sign as compared to hard wiring.
Beemers are really sensitive. I guess I will stay away for survellieance and keep my finger cross that are no ppl to tamper my car when it is parked.

Re: where to install Car camera

I tapped my camera onto the on and off button . Only start recording when I start my car.
