Changing pads have all sorts of side effects, I believe that there's no free lunch. If you change pad to a dustfree one, either the bite sux like kenn said, simply because the pad's not working at correct temp. It's might be dustfree because it's not working well. Or it might squeal, have too much FRICTION resulting in rotor wear, or just not a comfortable pad to use.
Don't throw away your originals, since pads are relatively cheap, just try on some of the recommended esp EBC, and see if you like it. Several people I've met always revert to stock after a couple of weeks as it is probably the best compromise.

Typically low dust and high performance is mutually exclusive..so there always has to be a balance..it depends on what your needs are.
I'm using Axxis Deluxe Advanced Street Pads. Just installed them about a week ago and so far it's been great. There is significantly less brake dust than stock and there is no squealing yet...the bite is pretty good as they claim that the optimum temperature range is similiar to OEM pads. Good for occasional spirited driving and hard braking on public roads. I don't know whether you can get it locally but I ordered them from Zeckhausen Racing. Consulted them on which brake pad I needed according to my driving style and they gave me an honest recommendation. Didn't try to "up-sell" me.

moral of the story - cannot escape the laws of physics lah. you will not be able to have best of both worlds.
less brake dust, less bite.
less brake dust, better stopping power - you will need race pads, which are more expensive. not sure about the claims on ebc (on less brake dust), but i'm going to try them out soon after i'm done with my existing pads.
it also depends on your driving style. are you an aggressive driver who needs street / race pads? or are u just irritated by the brake dust? have to find a compromise / middle ground.

but brO, y e "law of physics" do not apply on all my previous ride eg. civic n evo?
im juz another tortoise driver, who dnt needs any racing pad. i juz hate those brake dust on my rims n washing those rims every other days, is reali makin me nutsss.............. !!!!!!

best solution, buy a jap car so you don't complain about brake dust.
We have given you several options to satisfy what you have asked. For a BMW, the stock pads are dusty cause they perform brilliantly in all conditions. I changed to race pads, but the perfromance is not as good as the stock pads under normal driving conditions, they have to be much hotter to perform at optimum. But yes, the dust is less, why? No asbestos in them.

It made me a happy car owner when I was washing my car, but also made me a slower driver. Eventually I lost all the fun of driving, and lost "feel" and trust on my car's handling.
In short, where you used to take 30 metres to brake to complete stop at a particular speed, with low-dust pads you might have to brake 50 metres in advance to make up for the loss of bite. and also remember to bed-in your pads properly when you change the pads.
improves braking efficacy and minimises squeal. said to minimise wear too.

Sometimes pads with less dust squeal like nails scratching the blackboard (like what marklee bro said). I stick to stock pads because I can't stand the sound.
Fishrock, like what Phil says, brake dust makes your rims look dirty but they won't kill. Don't change pads just because there's dust, really.phil;350352 said:
