Whats this for - beneath Mirror

Manual says its supposed to light up when alarm's activated. But mine doesn't.

Does anybody know what this is for?

Appreciate any advice.

BMW Alarm ala the clown nose.

Looks like yours is not a dimming mirror? It might be for you to twist, to switch to night mode to reduce glare from high beam.
