What's the best way to load music collection into HardDrive?

Hi Bros

What is the best way to load your mp3 music collection into the iDrive hard drive?

I tried loading 2 cds and also used a thumb drive via the glove compartment USB. When I put the same thumb drive in with more mp3s, the system loaded it in the hard disk as USB2.

So i now have a disorganised file system with USB1 and USB2 plus the two additional CDs that I loaded to test the system.

I am thinking of getting one bigger thumb drive (16GB) and organising everything on the PC, delete the previous files, and load the whole new lot at one go.

Anyone got better ideas?

Woah, this one a bit complicated. Seeing how I keep listening to the same old 400 plus songs from 2 - 3 decades back, I thank my lucky stars I don't have this problem .... hehehe.

The 16Gb thumb drive sounds like a better idea. That's what I would do if I wanted to keep my songs well organized.

Actually uploading is a bitch and takes forever. Just get an external 2.5" drive up to 1 terabyte, dump all your songs there.... connect to the centre console and u can listen songs until ur car sold still cannot finish.... hehehe

I think cannot. Correct me if I'm wrong The manual says cannot use external hard disk. Anyway I have 12G of space in the hard disk so a 16Gb thumb drive should be enough. I don't have that much music. 12Gb plus 16GB in my iPod is probably plenty. I'm already having massive difficulties with iTunes managing the mp3 collection and it's less than 16GB I think.

On a separate note, I've noticed the hard drive cannot playback iTunes lossless format so I have to play those off the iPod.

Thanks anyway

if u listen to lossless music.. then get a HDD.. or a iPOD classic...

if all your collection mp3... the get one of those "short" usb sticks.. 32GB...
guaranteed u drive from from singapore to holland... still haven't finished all the song...

i tried ripping a cd to the car's hdd before.. the encoding was bad.. very low bit rate... better off putting the CD in the changer...

HDD cannot because the system cannot play apple lossless or flac. So only option is ipod.

But I will probably just load mp3s from now on. Getting my superspints soon :yummie:. That other orchestra is probably going to negate the difference between the mp3 and the lossless. As it is my 20in PSS tires are noisy enough even though they are quieter than the previous run flats.

For the moment the Professional Speaker System (F13 has 16 speakers/600W/Surround Sound Processor) does sound quite OK,, especially when the autostart kicks in and switches off the engine. Then you have nearly pure silence in the car except for the aircon fan.

WMA lossless works fine on usb or HDD but no media art unless u use mpeg4 headers..
F10's combox cannot decode flac, ape....

i have a huge library of apple lossless muisc on a itunes server at home.. so i use ipod classic as a transport... cheap.. simple... no mess :) plus full album art..

I tried playing back m4a apple lossless format via the USB but it could not play. The manual says it can play. Anybody else tried playing back m4a? Haven't tried WMA but don't really want to go thru the hastle of converting my iTunes library

:helpp!:

I think this is not possible. You should use other trick for this if you can. :whattheh:
