i don't think he was skirting the questions leh.. More like the interviewer was being relentless with her prodding of why a muslim would write a book on jesus..

nothing wrong with his assertions that the book was written in his capacity as an academic and not as a muslim.

i think in all fairness, it's more of he's afraid of being slammed by critics for being racist or something. so just keep defending the 'phd' and he's an academic and the angle is pure academic point of view.

this vid (from watching half) is almost like a mental chewing gum. lots of flavour, but no substance..

I think the jerk here really is the interviewer who is not only an airhead but was biased and clearly prejudiced against the writer's religious faith. It was distasteful to say the least but was extremely cringe worthy though; perhaps this is a sign of the underlying sensitivities that exist in the American society.

The phd's reaction - no class and was defensive. Bad objection handling skills.

You must expect the "below the belt curve ball" when you are up on stage with controversial topics and be prepared especially with open cultures.

The interviewer is not an airhead if she could send a phd into a corner to whine.
