Hi guys, what do you think would benefit BMW owners in Singapore in terms of content wise in the website?

List / Maps of Garages and workshops? Would photos help?
I kinda feel that names & addresses on the site don't really help much.
Singapore's specialist workshops arn't alot so do you think it would be a good idea to go around and take photos of them? (of course with their permission ;) ) We could then list them up in the site. Providing more details about them. Opening closing hours...etc..etc.

What do you think?

Re: Website feedback and suggestions.

true. Maps and phots would really be useful! but good maps could be gotten from streetdirectory, but i would get sued haha. So have to find some way to actually do it. Did this for some company last year, dreadful i tell you. Either got to trace out the map or something.

Well, you guys could help? I don't mind going to every shop listed in the resource site to take exterior photos of the shop. Might need some of the other member's help first tho...if the shop dude is kinda suspicious of me. heh.

i see this as a collective & collaborative effort, not for the phpbb forum, but as a whole for the bmw.sg web-site. I'm looking at a more effective redesign of the site and addition of new content. Still not really happy with how the site turned out.

cheers!

Great idea! As for the maps... if I remember correctly reading somewhere on their site, I think it is fine if we provide the link to streetdirectory.com to access the map locations rather than to take their maps and put on our site?

From my point of view... how any new forum can become successful, although depends on participation from users, also need fresh or frequently updated content to keep users coming back to participate. Thus this idea to add pics and info on workshops is great content!

It's a vicious cycle till it becomes self-sustaining... which the delphi forum has actually become self-sustaining from the large input from the participating users.

Ryan... need help taking pics do let me know ya? My digicam is getting rusty from being under utilised... 8)

Re: Website feedback and suggestions.

Hi ramius,

Yep was thinking about this before, but i was reading thru their TOS, seems like we can't do that. Some forums actually did link before, they did some tracing stuff and emailed the administrator.

Guess ill email them and ask them myself whether theres any way we could do it legally :)

Excellent idea. Don't think pictures are gonna be too hard esp if there're only like 5-10 of these specialist workshops. Can easily be up within a month. Maybe can even interview owners of the places on their business philosophy or something. Rating and review system by members perhaps?

Re: Website feedback and suggestions.

Heh the interview system sounds nice tho. But better to leave out the rating for the shops. Very bad for shopowners if we all become biased to one shop, and it just takes one person to have a bad experience. heh

very nice and personal the interview thing... "I bring em big big wheels, and the bmw doods just buy buy em. Me happy cause all they bling bling!"

I support Oredi:thumbsup: Bro Ryan, I tink its better to highlight here which Wksp details or datas U have oredi so other bros/sis wont do a double job :)

Ryan i have a suggestion. for the drop-down window at the top to jump to other forums one, can include BMWSG? unless there's another shortcut button to go there directly. This way we can jump in-between the 2 forums with ease.

ryan, has there been a change in the format for the way attached pics are shown in the posts?

last time the different pics used to be in individual boxes one on top of another. now they are put left-right side by side, and somehow my browser cannot scroll right. so i can only see the first pic, and all the subsequent ones are "hidden" at my unaccessible right hand side.

Shawn,

Okay, damm. Yes i changed the layout. However i didnt notice that subsequent attachments will be missing.

I did notice that the signature did dissapear but i thought that would be a minor issue. Will go back to relook at the coding again. DOH! :whattheh:

It WILL be fixed TONIGHT.

Yah. Get to work. Fast. Or else.

Hahah please no.

Hey can you come on MSN. I have some quick questions to ask you. Doing site now
